A "ring" and a "door"
In the whole area of warehouse No. 2 in Cainiao Jiading Park, in front of the conveyor belt more than ten meters high, only a few people are carrying goods and can sort more than 8,000 packages per hour. Sorter Wang Ping wears a magical "ring" on his hand, and two fingers can scan the barcode of the goods with just a touch, "compared with the previous hand-held code sweeping gun, the efficiency is about 15%. ”
The same is the scanning code picking, the small "ring" in another warehouse assembly line into a "door", but when the package passes, the "door" will recognize the bar code, and automatically classified to the corresponding destination station. Workers are barely visible in this area, and fully automated operations are realized. "Only some rolling bottles of water and oil, as well as fragile items, require special manual picking." Cainiao Jiadingcang operation expert Chen Bin said.
Different from the unmanned flowing water picking area, the third floor demolition area is another scene, bustling with each division of labor, some people veneer lists, some people packaging goods... Compared with the whole decoration area, the zero area is often a small item purchased by the citizens. "There are almost half or six hundred thousand purchases every day, and if it is the peak sales season of Double Eleven, it will often exceed one million." Chen Bin told reporters that the warehouse has recently prepared enough goods for the New Year Goods Festival in advance to ensure the supply of Shanghai citizens for the Spring Festival.
It is understood that Cainiao Jiading Park covers an area of 210 acres, with a total construction area of about 200,000 square meters, operating Tmall Supermarket, Hema Fresh and other businesses, since it was put into operation in 2017, serving 11 districts such as Shanghai Baoshan, Hongkou and Huangpu.
The "green ledger" behind the courier
"Don't think that picking and delivering goods is just a simple express delivery, more than 700 people in the warehouse can cover most of Shanghai, and there is a digital logistics supply chain behind it." Chen Bin told reporters that Cainiao launched an electronic face sheet as early as 2014, and the multi-layer paper list on the original express parcel for all parties to sign, archive and settle has been replaced by the bar code on a face sheet and the digital management system behind it.
Electronic face sheets not only reduce labor costs, but also avoid picking errors as much as possible, while saving at least four sheets of paper compared to traditional five-piece paper sheets, reducing carbon emissions in the logistics industry.
The reporter also found a special phenomenon: the whole area is almost the original box delivery, and most of the zero area uses degradable plastic bags. "Cainiao has achieved 70% of package shipments no longer using new cartons." Chen Bin introduced that Jiading Park has enabled circulation box delivery since 2018, each circulation box comes with RFID identification, and during the double eleven period, the daily use of circulation boxes exceeds 50,000, which can replace more than 200,000 cartons and plastic packaging materials. This model is currently being considered for promotion in other cities such as Beijing.
In addition, Jiading Park is also equipped with rooftop photovoltaic power generation facilities to apply clean energy to the park to reduce energy consumption. In the past year, the total power generation capacity of the park is expected to be 3.31 million kWh, and it has now achieved self-sufficiency in electricity consumption, and can also transmit 1 million kWh of green energy to the municipal grid every year.
Digitalization empowers physical manufacturing
In addition to the logistics "old line", Cainiao's digital supply chain is accelerating the empowerment of physical manufacturing. Recently, the digital supply chain system cooperated by SAIC-GM-Wuling and Cainiao has landed, and the main data combing of logistics has been completed, which means that the "Wuling Shenche" is expected to plug in the "digital wings" from the production end to the sales end.
"The previous transportation sub-orders were 100% operated by manual operation, vehicle scheduling and carrier selection basically rely on experience to judge, now as many as 200,000 new cars per month to be transferred throughout the country, relying on manual dispatch, car allocation, low efficiency, high cost, but also easy to make mistakes." At present, through the operation and analysis of data, 60% of the manual sub-orders have been converted into automatic sub-orders by the system, with an accuracy rate of nearly 100%, which also reduces the operating costs of enterprises. Cainiao said.
Through digital technology to revitalize industrial information, Cainiao also helped Fengxian realize "a map of e-commerce in the whole region". "How much e-commerce turnover is in the jurisdiction, which category accounts for the largest proportion of transactions, which category has the most logistics orders, and which category has the best user evaluation can be intuitively seen."
