About the Author
Hergé, whose original name was Georges Remy, was born in Brussels on 22 May 1907. At the age of eighteen, Helge graduated from high school and joined the Twentieth Century Daily. Meanwhile, he published his first series, Toto, the Daredevil Patrol Captain, in Boy Scout magazine, featuring an adventurous scout who is also the prototype for Tintin. Later, Toto's identity was changed to journalist and his name was changed to TinTin. In order to impress the reader with the character, he added a handful of eternally upturned yellow hair to Tintin's head and gave him a clever, cute dog. The dog's name is the name of her lover: Miro. In later English versions, the dog was renamed "Snow White".
"The Adventures of Tintin" was written quickly in a 15-month cycle, and Tintin went to the Congo, the Americas, and Egypt, attracting readers with a strong exotic style. In 1934, Hergé began the creation of the famous Blue Lotus, and from then on, Tintin was no longer just a tour guide showing Westerners wonders, but an image of friendship, pain, courage, wisdom, and justice.
