Guo Xi (郭熙), courtesy name Chunfu, was a native of Wen County, Heyang (present-day Mengxian County, Henan), an outstanding landscape painter and painting theorist of the Northern Song Dynasty. In the first year (1067) of emperor Shenzong of Song, he was summoned to the court and appointed as an artist of the Imperial Painting Academy and a hanlin edict. Because the emperor liked his paintings, his inkblots were found in many places in the court. Guo Xi's landscape painter Fa Licheng, mountain stones mostly use "cirrus cloud", and trees often make "crab claw branches".

Guo Xi's masterpiece "Early Spring Map" was created in the fifth year of The Song Dynasty (1072), an ink painting on silk, now in the National Palace Museum in Taipei. The picture depicts the scene of spring waking up. Although this "Early Spring Drawing" obviously bears the imprint of the court painting school in the overall style, it does not show Chen Xiangyin like the general court painters, but takes rigorous and fine as the criterion, takes the pen and ink technique as the ability, is not limited to the normative mode, comes out of the studio and actively blends into nature, takes the real mountains and real water as the teacher, borrows things, expresses the true feelings in my heart in the work, and integrates the landscape painting into the poetic and beautiful artistic conception.

Yang Bing was born in Xi'an in April 1969. He graduated from the Attached High School of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. In 1993, he graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree in art. He is currently an associate researcher at the Forest of Steles Museum in Xi'an, a calligrapher at the Calligraphy Research Center, an expert in exhibition planning and display design at the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, a co-tutor for postgraduate students at the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, and a visiting scholar at the "The University of The Arts" in Philadelphia, USA (2016). He is mainly engaged in the theoretical research of ancient Chinese art history, contemporary art criticism and practical activities of artistic creation.
