The new configuration of the Long March 8 rocket will perform a one-arrow 22-satellite launch

The reporter learned from the "Blue Book of China's Aerospace Science and Technology Activities" (2021) press conference that the mainland's new generation of medium-sized carrier rockets, the Long March 8, is currently undergoing pre-launch test work at the Wenchang Launch Site in Hainan. The launch of the Long March 8 adopts a new configuration, and will launch 22 satellites at a time.

The Long March 8 is the latest model in the mainland's Long March series of carrier rockets, which can undertake more than 80% of the medium and low orbit launch tasks. According to reports, the Long March 8 Yao-2 rocket will be launched at the Wenchang Launch Site from the end of February to the beginning of March. The mission was the first flight of a new configuration of the Long March 8 rocket without a booster.

Chen Xiaofei, deputy chief designer of the First President of the Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Zheng No. 8 carrier rocket: Although the Changba Yao-2 is a new configuration, the design of the Chang8 Yao-1 has actually taken into account the two states of having a booster and not having a booster. We practiced a modular design idea at the beginning, so that in a relatively short period of time, we can efficiently complete the design of a new rocket.

According to reports, the Long March 8 Yao-2 carrier rocket will launch 22 commercial satellites, which will also create a record for the largest number of satellites launched at a time on the mainland. In addition to the Long March 8 Yao-2 rocket, the Long March 8 will also complete the assembly of one rocket and put seven rockets into production this year, so as to support the follow-up major projects such as networking with Internet constellations.

The Long March 11 rocket will undergo two sea launches this year

In addition, the reporter also learned that the mainland's sea launch capability will be further improved this year, and the Long March 11 rocket will carry out two sea launches. At the same time, the first flight of the new commercial rocket Jielong III will also be completed at sea.

According to reports, space launches at sea can greatly solve the safety problems of rocket navigation areas and wreckage landing areas; at the same time, the launch location can be flexibly selected, so as to adapt to the launch needs of different types of satellites. This year, the Long March 11 carrier rocket will carry out two sea launches, which will further improve the safety and reliability of the launch and form a concise and efficient sea launch capability.

Long Wei, deputy commander of the Zheng 11 Jielong-3 carrier rocket, the first president of the Aerospace Science and Technology Group: In the follow-up, we also want to form a fixed mode of sea launch by playing a few more rounds to improve efficiency.

In addition, the new commercial carrier rocket Jielong III in the mainland will make its first flight this year. Jielong-3 is a medium and low orbit solid rocket with "high cost performance, high reliability, fast performance and fast launch", with a 500 km orbital carrying capacity of 1.5 tons. On this first flight, Jielong 3 will use a new launch platform to launch at sea.

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the First President of the Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Zhengzheng Eleven Jielong-3 Carrier Rocket Long Wei: The ability of the Jielong-3 rocket is equivalent to three times the carrying capacity of the Changyi rocket, aiming to complete the first flight at the end of August. It is a brand new launch support system that wants to verify the safety technology of this large tonnage rocket at sea for this hot launch.
