First, the price comparison.
The main reason why the price of tire curing agent products of these 4 brands varies so much per 100 milliliters is that the raw materials are different.
Tortoise's Cherry Cool tire coating agent is made of silicone resin as the main raw material.
Rain-x tire coating wax is silicone as the main raw material.
3M's tire long-lasting care agent is made of silicone as the main raw material.
Goodyear's tire curing agents use methyl silicone oil as the main raw material.
Second, gloss texture test.
Before doing this test, I thoroughly washed the rear wheels of my car and then divided them into 4 areas with paper tape.
Then apply 4 different curing agents to each of the 4 areas of the tire, and wait for half an hour to see how the 4 tires are shiny and textured.
What needs to be explained here is that most tire maintenance products now use silicone oil as a raw material, which is not harmful to the hub, so we can use it with confidence, as long as you look at the batch table when purchasing.
In fact, the 4 tire care agents are compared together, and you can clearly see that there are two different textures on the tires.
Goodyear is a very typical high-gloss texture, the surface of the tire after construction looks very oily, and even has some reflective effects.
3M belongs to the typical matte texture, and the gloss on the tires is very uniform, which may be related to the way it is constructed by pressure spray tanks.
Because the pressure tank can make the glazing wax spray more evenly, so the glazing wax is completely dried, more close to the low-light texture.
Rain-x is a texture between high light and low light, which is also pointed out in its construction instructions, and it can achieve different gloss effects through different construction methods.
Turtle's varnish I don't seem to absorb very well, may be related to its product characteristics, because this product is more watery when sprayed out, while rain-x and Goodyear are more oily.
However, the light wax on the turtle brand is also clear in the use requirements, requiring that it should not be wiped after spraying, but let the tire absorb naturally, so I think this may be the reason why the effect does not look good.
conclusion:
Turtle belongs to the typical matte texture, rain-x belongs to the matte and highlight can be constructed texture, 3M belongs to the typical matte texture, and Goodyear belongs to the typical highlight texture.
Third, the degree of stickiness test.
Because these 4 tire care agents are known as non-greasy and non-stick ash, it can effectively reduce the yellowing caused by sticky gray tires.
So I specially collected 4 glasses of dust with the Planet Cup, then spaced the surface of the tire by 20 cm, and then used a hair dryer to blow the dust to the 4 treads that had been applied to the tire polishing agent at the same speed.
Then the results are clear at a glance, the least sticky ash is rain-x, followed by Turtle and 3M, and the most sticky ash is Goodyear.
Then combining the degree of ash test and the previous gloss texture test, you can actually draw a simple conclusion.
That is, the matte texture tire glazing agent is not easy to get ashed. The high-gloss texture of the glazing agent is very easy to get ashed.
Fourth, durability test.
Before this test began, I used a high-pressure water gun to rinse all the dust sprayed on the previous sticky ash test.
Then I drive this car normally every day, wash the car, rain it, and keep parked outdoors every day, and then every other week to see what changes in these 4 areas.
A week later...
On the whole, the darkest area on the tire is the part where Goodyear's glazing agent has been constructed, which is obviously much darker than the area of rain-x above construction, and much darker than the area of 3M glazing agent on the left.
The second effect that remains good is the Turtle Brand, which also looks dark and bright, but the effect of the 3M below it looks not much different from it.
The worst effect was the rain-x construction, which made me feel a little disappointed because it and Goodyear spewed out a very viscous liquid, but the actual effect was thousands of miles apart.
However, if you compare the tread of rain-x construction with the tire part of the tape attached to the test, it can still be clearly seen that the tread that has not been built has been yellowed a little, and the tread of the built rain-x curing agent is still relatively black.
So in fact, rain-x is still effective, but compared to the other 3 curing agents, the effect is relatively poor.
Two weeks later...
It rained half the second week of the test, which was a great test of the product's staying power.
The tread gloss effect of the construction Goodyear curing agent is still the best, and it is really worthy of being a manufacturer of tire origin.
Between Goodyear and 3M, you can see at a glance that Goodyear's tread is a little darker and brighter.
Secondly, the effect of rain-x is also more obvious, it is compared with the turtle card, it can also be clearly seen that the rain-x is darker than the turtle card.
And rain-x and Goodyear also have the effect of blackening the tires after two weeks of construction, because if you look closely, the part of the adhesive tape between the two of them is obviously yellower.
On the other hand, the tread of the adhesive tape part between 3M and the turtle brand is darker than the tread that has been constructed, which means that the tire polishing agent of the turtle brand and 3M may make the tire yellow after experiencing rain.
In rainy weather, Turtle and 3M can only maintain the tire glazing effect for less than two weeks, while Rain-x and Goodyear can barely maintain the effect for more than two weeks.
But these 4 products all claim to be able to last more than four weeks, so the results I have tested so far are slightly inconsistent with their publicity.
summary:
The cheapest is the Turtle brand, and the most expensive is the 3M.
In terms of gloss and texture, I personally prefer 3M, because 3M uses the pressurized tank spray mode, which will be more uniform. If you like the feeling of highlight oil, then Goodyear is perfect for you, and of course rain-x is not bad.
The least ash stained after construction is rain-x, and the most sticky ash is Goodyear.
The durability of turtles and 3M is not as good as Goodyear and rain-x.
