On September 23, in an exclusive interview with Zhengzhijian (WeChat ID: bqzhengzhiju), Li Xuezheng revealed that Wang Like believed that "In the Name of the People" had seriously smeared and affected the image of the public security team, and that his request to "stop broadcasting" was rejected by the relevant leaders.

At the beginning of the shooting, Wang Like did not read the script, if he watched it, he would definitely not let Nanjing shoot, he did not care. Just a few episodes of "In the Name of the People" was broadcast, he found a "problem" and said in front of the relevant leaders that this drama seriously smeared and affected the image of the public security team, and that it was necessary to "resist" and strive to "stop broadcasting." At that time, the relevant leaders gave him a "top back", saying that he was not afraid of the shadow tilt, why did he sit in the right seat?
Zheng Zhijun: Judging from the results, "In the Name of the People" was successfully broadcast at that time. What negative impacts has Wang Like's boycott brought to this drama and related teams?
Li Xuezheng: In fact, it brought us great pressure at that time.
"In the Name of the People" was filmed in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, and there are many political and legal system units that support our shooting, including dozens of public security organs, procuratorates, courts, etc., and these units are included in the list of "thank-you" units at the end of the first few episodes. Wang Like, who was then the secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Political and Legal Committee and director of the Public Security Department, ordered us to delete all these "thank-you" units, and many propaganda departments of the public security political and legal system who supported us were criticized.
At that time, there were also WeChat public accounts of the police system that published articles publicly opposing "In the Name of the People", many of which were from Jiangsu. Wang Like also used this pressure to put pressure on other systems, so after the first round of broadcasting, "The Name of the People" did not broadcast the second round.
In addition, the fact that "In the Name of the People" did not receive an award in the end was also related to Wang Like's strong intervention.

Now that this drama has been broadcast for nearly five years, at this time when the special struggle against organized crime and evil forces has won a decisive victory and the education and rectification work of the political and legal contingent has been carried out in depth, looking back at the plot stories in the drama, whether it is the level of officials involved or the nature of their crimes, which point is exaggerated or even smeared?

Zheng Zhijun: After "In the Name of the People", some TV dramas on the theme of the rule of law have been broadcast one after another, such as "Circuit Procuratorial Group" and "Sweeping Black Storm". As far as you know, have the production and broadcast of these TV series been "boycotted" or asked to be "stopped"?
Li Xuezheng: The current situation and environment are much better, and this is also related to the special struggle to eliminate organized crime and evil forces and the education and rectification of the political and legal contingent. The progress of the country's rule of law in recent years is the greatest confidence in our creation.
One point must be emphasized: Despite the harmful herd, the overall image of the country's 2 million people's police is still glorious and just. They are a group of people who are good at dedication and courageous in sacrifice. The stability of Chinese society and the sense of security of the people all come from the joint efforts of these 2 million people's police. Although the TV series exposes some of the scum in the police, we still praise the entire police force and are grateful to them.
The audience's psychological feelings are the same, and it is impossible to think that China's police force is "broken" because of the broadcast of "In the Name of the People". Only truly corrupt elements will resist on the grounds that "such a plot will affect the image of the political and legal contingent and even the image of the party."
