La Liga team salary cap update: Barca loses 144 million euros Real Madrid 739 million euros unchanged

As early as 2013, La Liga introduced a salary cap system. According to the regulations, the total salary of each team cannot exceed 70% of the club's total budget. This figure is not the actual amount of spending per team, but only the maximum amount that clubs can theoretically spend.

La Liga salary cap covers players, first-team coaches and echelon players, as well as sports related departments of fixed salary, floating salary, bonus, as well as transfer costs (including transfer fee amortization costs and agent commissions, signing fees, etc.), plus the player's social security contributions.

If you want to increase the salary cap of the team, there are mainly the following ways: increase the matchday income, increase the sponsorship fee income, increase the transfer fee income of the players sold, and the shareholder injection (the amount of the funds will be apportioned within 3-4 years according to the regulations, not a one-time calculation in the current year).

As things stand, Barca want to raise their salary caps in the 2022-2023 season by selling their stakes in the club's studios, significantly increasing sponsorship revenue and agreeing to the CVC deal.
