The Pacers reportedly pushed with the Kings for a deal involving Teres Halliburton this offseason and sent Offmantas Sabonis in the deal, but they were also interested in John Wall before pushing for the deal.
According to U.S. media outlet Mark Stein, the Pacers expressed interest in pushing for a Wall trade with the Rockets, but ultimately opted for the younger Halliburton:
Stein also pointed out that the Clippers and Heat are teams interested in John Wall, but only if Wall can reach a buyout contract with the Rockets and become an unrestricted free agent.
Wall still has a whopping $47.4 million in player options in 2022-23, which also means that wall is impossible to give up such a player option. However, Wall has not played any games for the Rockets since April 2021, mainly because the Rockets are in the rebuilding phase and want to develop young stars in the lineup.
Wall has suffered a number of injuries so far in his career, and injury problems have indeed limited Wall's play, and for the Pacers, pushing for a deal involving Wall certainly doesn't have a greater benefit from the young Halliburton, after all, Wall is unlikely to be the player who led the Pacers to success, and Hariburton clearly has a more promising future than Halliburton.
Whether the Rockets will reach a buyout contract with Wall this offseason remains to be seen, but if that eventually becomes a reality, Wall may be able to prove himself again on the Clippers or the Heat.
