After planning to buy Twitter, tech billionaire Musk is considering charging a fee for the online service. He wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: "Twitter is always free for the average user. But it may cost a little money for commercial/government users. ”
According to media reports, Musk hopes to bring Twitter back to the stock exchange later. The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Musk aims to make a comeback in the U.S. stock market within three years of acquiring Twitter. Musk mentioned the plans to potential investors.
Last week Twitter accepted Musk's $44 billion offer, but the world's richest man is currently in talks with a range of institutions and investors to join the company, which could ease his funding pressure.
In addition to loans and mortgages, Musk himself needs to come up with $21 billion to complete the deal. He initially hoped to bring the 16-year-old internet company back into the stock market after the acquisition.
Under Musk's proposed acquisition plan, the deal is expected to close later this year if it gets a Twitter shareholders' meeting and regulatory release. Twitter and Musk aim to complete the acquisition by the end of the year.
