Stephen Silas is learning how to coach a top rookie with Texas coach Lovie Smith!

During Friday's NFL training camp break, Rockets head coach Stephen Silas had the opportunity to speak with Texas head coach Lowey Smith off the court. Smith invited Silas to the training session and eventually had the opportunity to communicate face-to-face.

On the sidelines, Silas personally learned about Smith's friendly relationship with the young players and discovered that the cooperation between the coach and the players was so tacit. One player Silas paid particular attention to was rookie defender Derrick Stingley Jr., particularly the way he interacted with Smith.

Stingley, a student at Louisiana State University, was picked as the number three in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. His athleticism was prominent at Louisiana State University as he was named to the AP National First Team as a freshman. Entering his rookie year, he became the cornerstone of the rebuilt Texans' football and was pinned high hopes.

The main reason Silas watched the interaction between Smith and Stingley was that in less than two months he found himself in a similar situation with Rockets rookie Jabari Smith Jr.

Houston Rockets Stephen Silas was asked about his impressions of Texas rookie Derrick Stingley Jr., who Silas thought was as hopeful as Jabaly Smith Jr. Stingley was selected as third in the 2022 NFL draft, while Smith was also picked as the number three pick in this year's draft.

The Houston Rockets selected Smith with the third pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, where he played a season at Auburn University. Like Stingley, Smith has won multiple awards for his outstanding performance in college and was named a Second Team in the United States at the end of the season.

Silas knows that both the players and the team have a daunting task ahead of them, with both sides trying to restore the confidence of the fans, who are unhappy with the results of both teams over the past two seasons. He elaborated on what he had observed about Stilee during the boot camp.

Silas believes that both Stingley and Smith are studying hard, and the coaches are pointing them in the right direction, which is a learning curve. Make sure to be in the right position and help every player play better. Silas expects both Stingley and Smith to be at the heart of the team's future.
