"Times have changed, ideals have changed over and over again."

△ Liu Zhuohui

For many years, I always feel ancient and mysterious

I can't remember how many glorious histories there are

It was the title song of Beyond's first Chinese album Dadi released in 1990, and its Cantonese version was included in the 1988 album Secret Police, which was BEYOND's most successful debut until 1988.

Between 1987 and 1988, when the mainland allowed Taiwanese veterans to return home to visit their relatives, Huang Jiaju wanted to use a song to express the feelings of blood dissolved in water on both sides of the strait. Therefore, he made a good song and handed it to Liu Zhuohui to fill in the lyrics, and "The Earth" was produced.

BEYOND went from an underground band to a mainstream rock band familiar to the public because of "Earth".

And Liu Zhuohui also went from being labeled "cynical alternative lyricist" by the market to the mainstream, becoming the royal lyricist of BEYOND, and created Dadi Records to cultivate a large number of musicians.

That year, rock and roll was still loved by many people in China. Cui Jian's second album "Solution" was published, and the album 'Solution' and "Let Me Sprinkle Some Wild on This Snow" later became masterpieces of Chinese rock.

That year, Gao Xiaosong and Old Wolf were still "playing" with heavy metal, and the campus folk songs that later spread across the country were just small songs written by the band in their spare time.

That year, in 1992, BEYOND signed a contract with Warner Records, shifting the focus of development to Japan, and "BEYOND Royal Lyricist" Liu Zhuohui founded Dadi Records in Beijing.

In the 1990s, mainland records were only produced in a rudimentary manner, and were put on the market without any packaging or publicity.

The arrival of Liu Zhuohui brought about the singer's signing system and the international standard publishing procedure, that is, to establish a long-term cooperative relationship with the singer through the record company.

In addition to introducing the signing system, Dadi also gathered a group of excellent producers at that time, including a group of young people such as Huang Xiaomao, Sanbao, shen Qing, who had written a lot of songs for Cui Jian and Black Panther. Ai Jing, He Yong, Jing Gangshan, Gao Xiaosong, Lao Wolf, Li Xiaodong and a number of other musicians gathered here.

A group of young people who are flourishing are connected by the earth and by Liu Zhuohui. The notes that flashed in their heads were captured by them to compose an immortal melody, and the most simple scenes in their eyes were frozen by them to write the most beautiful love poems.

Dadi planned and produced during the Liu Zhuohui period, and then launched in 1994, the "Campus Folk Songs" series spawned the first wave of folk songs in China. Under the banner of rock and roll, folk songs have successfully entered people's vision.

It made Gao Xiaosong and Lao Wolf see the hope of folk songs, and at the same time, it also let a group of subsequent folk singers such as Park Shu and Mizuki Nianhua see the direction.

"You at the same table", "Brother sleeping on my top bunk", and "Winter Campus" have been chanted so far, becoming a classic in the hearts of a generation, and even more a youth in the hearts of each generation.

On June 30, 1993, Huang Jiaju left us, BEYOND entered the "Three Sons Era", and soon after Liu Zhuohui also left Dadi Records.

Liu Zhuohui has always been familiar with the identity of Beyond's royal lyricist, and in the dozen or so songs he has collaborated with Beyond, almost every capital has been widely circulated.

In Hong Kong in 1985, the music scene was full of love songs. Caught up in the erotic Hong Kong music scene, no one seems to continue to think about the wider world besides love.

This year, BEYOND held a "Forever Waiting" concert as an "underground band", when Liu Zhuohui was a newcomer who had just won the crossword contest with "Unspeakable Future".

Reopening that ancient chapter of history, at one end of the picture is a persistent lyricist newcomer holding his own work, stumbling forward in Hong Kong and in the impetuous music scene shrouded in love songs.

At the other end of the picture is a band that is equally unwilling to compromise and struggles to defend its so-called principles and egos.

Perhaps touched by their persistence, Heaven gave them one of the most extravagant gifts in 1987 – the encounter between Lau Cheuk-fai and Beyond. They opened a new door for the Hong Kong music scene – a group of enthusiastic performers appeared on the silent stage, singing with their hearts and lives.

Released in 1988, the album "Secret Police", written by Liu Zhuohui and composed by Huang Jiaju, became a classic song sung in the streets.

You only know that Fang Wenshan's words and Jay Chou's songs are a perfect match, but you don't know that Liu Zhuohui's words and Huang Jiaju's songs are the memories of a generation.

From the beginning of "The Earth", to the later "Great Wall", "Gray Track", "Lost Days", "Who Accompanies Me"...

Whenever Huang Jiaju's songs are, Liu Zhuohui can always fill in the most moving words.

△ After the Beijing concert, Liu Zhuohui and beyond went to the Great Wall

They are a pair of best partners who have achieved each other, and BEYOND has become popular all over the world because of these classic songs, thus going to the international stage.

And Liu Zhuohui also embarked on the peak of his lyricist career, and the four heavenly kings at that time, Jacky Cheung and Li Ming, also invited him to fill in the lyrics.

In 1988, Beyond held its first concert in Beijing, inviting Liu Zhuohui, who had been to the mainland before, as a "tour guide".

In the two years from 1989 to 1990, with more and more contacts with the mainland, Liu Zhuohui introduced the rolling stones' records into the mainland at that time, and the first albums of Luo Dayou and Zhao Chuan flowed into the mainland market through his hands.

In 1990, in order to pursue the "best state", Liu Zhuohui set his sights on the Chinese mainland, which was still blank in the industrial record market, and established a record company in Hong Kong, mainly engaged in the mainland market. Because "Earth" meant so much to him, he named the record company "Earth Records".

The first singer made by "Dadi" was Chang Kuan, and several of his songs were released overseas with good results. Because of the first experience, they boldly began to be a second singer, that is, Liu Zhuohui's girlfriend "Ai Jing" at that time.

Spent 100,000 yuan to record the song of "Ai Jing", but did not find the Bole who enjoyed the album, and this twist and turn continued for more than a year. However, at that time, the "earth" could not stop, so He Yong, one of the "Three Masters of the Magic Rock", and Chen Jin, who was one of the "Red Troops" at that time, were recorded.

For various reasons, several albums recorded at that time were not released, and Liu Zhuohui spent all his money. Later, the "land" of Hong Kong was acquired by his friend's company. After the acquisition, "Dadi" moved to Beijing.

After Liu Zhuohui founded Beijing Dadi Records, Ai Jing became the company's first singer to sign.

Hong Kong's Land Records, Ai Jing is the company's second recording singer.

In 1988, at the age of 19, Ai Jing went to Guangzhou to seek better development, and Liu Zhuohui was already a famous Lyricist and Music Producer in Hong Kong.

When Ai Jinggang opened his mouth to sing a few words at the first meeting, Liu Zhuohui could not help but applaud and said: "Your singing is very distinctive, and you are a singer with a promising future."

△ Ai Jing

Ai Jing and Liu Zhuohui met in this way, and in contact, Ai Jing was deeply attracted by Liu Zhuohui's outstanding talent, and was even more touched by his big brother-like care. And Liu Zhuohui was impressed by the dedication and unique understanding of music of this 19-year-old girl, and her distinctive temperament was very fascinating.

Slowly, in mutual appreciation, their hearts gradually drew closer. They fell in love, and they loved each other like crazy.

1997 is coming soon

I can go to Hong Kong

- "My 1997"

The happiest thing in the world is that the person you love also happens to love you in his heart, and the love words you write to a person have become the most beautiful love songs in the world.

"My 1997" was created in 1992, when the two could not see each other frequently because Liu Cheuk-fai lived in Hong Kong. How much they look forward to the year 1997, when they will no longer have to suffer from lovesickness.

△ Ai Jing "My 1997"

At that time, Ai Jing had a feeling and composed the song "My 1997". Later, after repeated discussion and revision by her and Liu Zhuohui, "My 1997" was finally completed.

When recording in the studio, Liu Zhuohui accompanied Ai Jing every second. Ai Jing sang over and over again with deep affection, while Liu Zhuohui listened intently to her every note. He was touched by Ai Jing's singing, and his eyes filled with tears.

Under the meticulous production and planning of Liu Zhuohui, the album "My 1997" was released in Taiwan after the production was completed, and in less than two weeks, it sold 100,000 copies. Beijing "Dadi", after the release of the album "My 1997", also achieved good results.

Liu Zhuohui has never forgotten his promise to promote Ai Jing to the world, in 1994, he took Ai Jing to Japan to develop, and released the "My 1997" album in Japan, setting a record for the first Asian foreign language record to be released in Japan.

Under the preparation of Liu Zhuohui, Ai Jing participated in many large-scale concerts, performing in Japan, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries. Ai Jing's name, like her songs, was well received by fans.

From a little girl who didn't understand the world in 1988, to a female singer who prepared her fourth album in 1998. Ten years of musical history, Ai Jing's life and music are inseparable from Liu Zhuohui. Wherever Ai Jing was, he would be by her side.

As Ai Jing later sang in "The Wandering Swallow": "Never worry about falling, all because of your encouragement; never worry about falling, with you there, who will be afraid of the sky high."

Although the nest is as good as a thousand, the destination of the bird will eventually be the embrace of the sky.

In 1998, Ai Jing and Liu Zhuohui had a disagreement on the direction of musical development. The two had a fierce quarrel, neither of them could convince the other, and their feelings were hit again and again. Gradually, they all felt a little tired. As a result, the breakup became inevitable.

Ten years ago, they became friends because of their musical acquaintances.

For ten years, they knew and fell in love because of their musical connection.

Ten years later, they peacefully broke up and became friends because of music.

After the breakup, they really got along like friends. If there is something, they will also come up with ideas for each other. When Ai Jing planned to return to China to set up his own music studio, Liu Zhuohui gave her a lot of help.

Previously, under the protection of Liu Zhuohui, Ai Jing was like a child. After the breakup, Ai Jing also had to fight alone in the music circle, although the process was difficult, but Ai Jing still handed in a satisfactory answer sheet.

After a short "break" period after the breakup, Liu Zhuohui prepared a three-and-a-half-minute music platform to cultivate a large number of musicians.

Beyond the royal lyricist Liu Zhuohui: I am very fortunate to be able to accompany them through those glorious years

When they fell in love, they helped each other to create a lot of golden songs in the music world; when the fate dispersed, they each forged ahead in the music world, regardless of the west and the east. Maybe that's the beauty of music.

Up to now, Liu Zhuohui has been in the music scene for more than 30 years. With the change of age, he may slowly fade out of the public eye. But "You at the Same Table" will still sound inadvertently, and BEYOND's songs can still ignite a flame in the hearts of the younger generation.

It may be that with the passage of time, many musicians will fade out of our sight, but the music they create can continue to affect generations of people.
