In 1950, the Central Committee held a business conference in Beijing, chairman Mao personally received Mr. Rong Yiren, according to Rong Yiren's recollection afterwards, Chairman Mao at that time held his hand tightly and praised himself as a "big red capitalist".
Premier Zhou was also nearby, and after seeing Rong Yiren, a young entrepreneur, Premier Zhou jokingly said that Rong Yiren was a "young zhuang faction" among capitalists.
Since then, Rong Yiren has received help and support from the central government, successfully obtained loans from banks, and in 1954, Rong Yiren made a very bold decision, that is, to cooperate with the central government to carry out a public-private partnership system.
At that time, Rong Yiren donated all his family property in spite of his family's opposition, because Rong Yiren knew that although he sacrificed his personal family property, he could exchange it for the new atmosphere of the Chinese business community, and everything was worth it.

At that time, Rong Yiren quickly threw himself into the ranks of attracting foreign investment and made outstanding contributions to the development of China's foreign economy.

It is worth mentioning that in October 1979, Rong Yiren founded the China International Trust and Investment Corporation, which is now CITIC Group, and since then, the scale of CITIC Group has grown from more than a dozen to 30,000 people in a few years, and its total assets have exceeded 50 billion yuan.
In March 1993, Rong Yiren was elected vice president of the country, and in 1998 Rong Yiren officially retired, and six years later, Rong Yiren returned to Beijing from Shanghai to enjoy retirement with his wife in a courtyard.
At 20:31 on October 26, 2005, Rong Yiren died of illness in Beijing at the age of 89.
On November 3 of the same year, at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing, a grand funeral was held for Mr. Rong Yiren in China, which was attended by state leaders and employees of CITIC Group.
The scale and standard of the whole funeral is very high, comparable to a state funeral, which shows how important Mr. Rong Yiren's status in China is.
Today, CITIC Group has developed into a leading state-owned enterprise in China, and all these achievements are inseparable from Mr. Rong Yiren's efforts.
Rong Yiren has explained the relationship between the individual and the state throughout his life, from a Shanghai entrepreneur with a wealthy family, to a red capitalist who donated all his family property, to a pioneer of reform and opening up who devoted himself to the real economy, Mr. Rong Yiren's vision and personal courage are very rare in China.
