Sandyvale was a stockbroker who was good at managing companies, he started with Manhattan Beck Securities, worked his way up to bookkeeper and stockbroker through hard work and outstanding performance, and founded his own company in 1960, during the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, successfully acquired an 80-year-old company and a company on the verge of bankruptcy, but after the acquisition of Hunts & Co., he led to an investigation by the SEC in his cost-cutting activities and eventually was prosecuted. He was a fastidious, scolding, and grumpy boss, but his company survived the bear market of the '70s and doubled its retail workforce, increased revenues by 50%, and became one of the largest private investment banks in the United States.
