Not long ago, the "hurdle" entry and exit of an associate professor at Peking University sparked a discussion about whether universities should open their doors to the public.
On December 28, the Chinese University of China issued a document stating that in order to meet the needs of social personnel as much as possible and realize the orderly opening of the campus, the university will open an online self-registration system for social personnel (referred to as "Renmin University Access") from January 1, 2024, which also clearly states that children under the age of 6 do not need to register for the record.
In the notice, the Chinese University of China clarified that the admission personnel implement the online real-name registration, and fill in the relevant information of the student (including name, valid identity information, mobile phone number, etc.) in the "Ping An People's Congress" WeChat public account menu bar to make an appointment, and must make an appointment 24 hours in advance.
If each unit on campus holds academic activities that are open to people outside the university, they can scan the QR code for activity registration announced by the organizing unit to register. Those who are interested in participating in such activities outside the school can directly verify and enter the school by scanning the QR code and filling in the information, and there is no need to register to enter the school through the "Renmin University Access".
The Chinese University of China said it does not charge any institution or individual for visits. In addition to the online registration channel designated by the school, no other institutions or individuals are entrusted to provide registration and admission services, please be wary of any form of paid service to avoid being deceived.

1. Persons entering the school need to enter the school with valid certificates for verification, and those who come to the school must enter the school with valid identity documents such as ID cards after successful online registration; children under the age of 6 do not need to register for the record, and can be accompanied by an accompanying caregiver (who has been successfully registered) to enter the school, and children need to provide identity proof when entering the school.
2. The school personnel should consciously accept the relevant regulations on the management of entering and leaving the school, and the school should dynamically regulate and control the scale of social personnel entering the school according to the campus carrying capacity and the needs of ensuring teaching and scientific research; Those who need to cancel the appointment for personal reasons, please cancel the operation in the system before 24 o'clock on the day before entering the school; in case of major activities, extreme weather, etc., the school will temporarily close the "Renmin Datong" system; please enter the school from the east gate of the school, park in the B3 basement of the Lide Building, and charge for parking hours, please standardize the place and maintain order.
3. Personnel entering the school should consciously abide by the relevant regulations on campus order management, and shall not enter the teaching, scientific research and office premises at will without consent, shall not gather crowds to make noise, and shall not fight and fight;
Previously, according to media reports, Li Zhi, an associate professor at Peking University's School of Engineering, posted an article on social media saying that he rarely came to the main campus because he had no classes at Peking University this semester. When he arrived at the main campus and crossed the turnstile with his leg raised, "the security guard didn't want to let me go."
He and the security guard staged a "catch-up race" at the school, and were eventually caught up and showed their work cards. Later, when he went out, the security guard still asked him to brush his face to exit the turnstile, and he raised his leg again to step over the turnstile and go out. It believes that "free access to universities is a matter of course" and called on Peking University to open its doors.
After this incident, Peking University began to open up in an orderly manner, balancing the order of the campus while meeting the needs of society as much as possible.

Specifically, the Security Department, the Computing Center, and the Alumni Office of Peking University have jointly developed a system for all kinds of personnel to make an appointment to enter the school, and opened up multi-channel access services for off-campus personnel; the university has independently developed a small program application platform for the school gate, a turnstile data management center, and a tourist data service platform to provide a variety of entry verification methods for visitors to the school gate; the school will strengthen the service training of security guards on duty at the school gate, highlight the reception procedures, discipline and problem handling, improve the efficiency of off-campus personnel, and pay attention to optimizing the experience of visiting the school.
In addition, Peking University will further understand the needs of social personnel to visit the campus during the New Year's Day and winter vacations, and flexibly adjust the admission methods and visiting quotas.
According to a number of media reports, at present, Beijing University of Foreign Chinese, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Capital University of Economics and Business and other colleges and universities have opened their campuses to the public, and social personnel can enter the school by swiping their ID cards.
Some colleges and universities that have not yet opened said that they are advancing relevant work in an orderly manner to meet the needs of society as much as possible while balancing the order of their campuses.
