On April 27, the 22nd Yuzhu Mountaineering Conference opened in Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and 80 participants from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and other places challenged the summit of Yuzhu Mountain.
As an ideal experience place for beginners in mountaineering, Yuzhu Peak, with an altitude of 6,178 meters, is located at the junction of Golmud City and Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Haixi Prefecture, and is the highest peak in the eastern section of the Kunlun Mountains. Wang Dejun, a mountain guide who participated in the Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Conference, told reporters: "In the vast world, we feel the beauty of primitiveness and silence, and the snow-capped mountains give us different responses in different seasons and different locations. In order to make full use of the unique natural resource advantages of Yuzhu Peak and build a sports mountaineering brand, the Yuzhu National Mountaineering Training Base jointly funded by the Qinghai Provincial Sports Bureau and the Golmud Municipal Government was completed in 2011 to provide strong logistical support for the holding of various mountaineering, hiking expeditions and other activities.

Mao Yongping said that in order to do a good job in the logistics support of Yuzhu Mountaineering activities, this year the local government plans to implement the transformation and upgrading project of Yuzhu Mountaineering Base on the original basis and combined with rural revitalization, so that the base will have the functions of accommodation, catering, adaptive training, etc., and build it into a comprehensive mountaineering training base integrating mountaineering exploration, mountaineering training, ecological sightseeing, tourism and leisure.
Located on the southern slope of Yuzhu Peak in Qumalai County, Yushu Prefecture, the slope is gentle and the route is clear, which is suitable for beginner mountaineers, so it has become the "first snow peak in life" for many mountaineers.
In 2021, Yuzhu Peak in Qumalai County received 1,078 tourists. With the continuous expansion of the influence of Yuzhu Peak and the increasing number of climbers, the original infrastructure of the Yuzhu Mountaineering Base Camp can no longer meet the needs of tourists.
The development of the mountaineering industry has also promoted the training of local mountaineering guides. The relevant person in charge of Qumalai County said: "Whether in terms of physical fitness or familiarity with the environment, local herders are the most suitable to be mountain guides, and 20 guides have been trained this year, making the guide profession another way to solve the employment of young people." ”
