Meteorological drought monitoring report

1. Meteorological drought

In the early part of last week, most areas of Shiping County were mainly sunny to cloudy weather, the temperature was high, and most of the county was affected by the rainfall on May 1~2 and 5 in the later period, as of May 6, the meteorological drought level of our county has been reduced, and most of the county is moderately drought, local light drought, and some areas of Niujie are severely drought.

2. Precipitation

Precipitation overview: Since January 1, 2024, the rainfall in Shiping has been 97.5 mm, 45.6 mm less than the same period in normal years, 31.9% less, and 55.0 mm or 129.4% more than the same period last year.

On May 1~2 and 5, rainy weather occurred in most areas of our county, and the largest was 21.4 mm at Niujie Station, which had a certain effect on alleviating the drought.

3. Meteorological risks of forest fires

On April 29~30 and May 4 last week, under the influence of the westerly airflow, our county continued to have sunny and hot weather, with the highest temperature exceeding 30 °C in most areas and more than 35 °C in the river valley. The rainfall on May 1~3 and 5 increased air and soil moisture. At present, the meteorological level of forest fire danger in most areas of our county is 3~4.

4. Drought trend forecasting

It is expected that under the influence of weak cold air and southwest airflow on the 8th ~ 9th and 12th in the next week, there will be two significant rainfall processes, with light to moderate rain in most areas, which can effectively alleviate the current meteorological drought and reduce the meteorological level of forest fire danger.
