There was another heavy rainfall process in Guangdong
According to statistics, the average rainfall in Guangdong Province in April was 497.4 mm, which was eight times the national average precipitation of 61.1 mm. At present, the soil moisture content in Guangdong is high, and the geological disasters are lagging behind, so it is still necessary to continue to do a good job in relevant defense work.
According to @guangdongweather, it is expected that most of Guangdong will be cloudy and sunny in the next 2 days, with scattered showers of thunderstorms, local rain, and strong convective weather such as short-term heavy precipitation and short-term gales around level 8.
It seems that there have been many thunderstorms recently, but in fact, there are more after the 12th:
On May 9, the 500hPa sub-high was lifted and the warm ridge moved eastward, which was a day with higher temperature in the near future, and the rainfall surface contracted, and the western cities and counties of western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta were cloudy with thundershowers and locally heavy rain or torrential rain, and the rest of the cities and counties were cloudy and sunny with local thundershowers.
From May 10th to 11th, the low-level southerly wind increased, the shear formation and development in Guizhou and Hunan, and Guangdong was in the southerly wind field before the shear, which was easy to induce regional convective precipitation, and some cities and counties in northern Guangdong and the northern cities and counties of the Pearl River Delta were cloudy with moderate thunderstorms and local heavy rain, and the rest of the cities and counties were cloudy with scattered thundershowers and local heavy rain.
Looking forward to the 500hPa upper-air trough moving eastward and shear southward from around the 12th, there will be another systematic heavy rainfall process in central and northern Guangdong, so keep an eye on it.
Shenzhen weather conditions
The cumulative rainfall in Shenzhen this year jumped from nearly 50% less on April 17 to 44% more at the end of April. In April alone, the cumulative rainfall of the Futian National Basic Meteorological Station in Shenzhen was 358.8 mm, 1.6 times more than that of the same period in normal years (140.1 mm), ranking third in the same period in history (the highest in history was 699.6 mm, which occurred in 2000), and the average rainfall of the whole city was 372.8 mm, 3.6 times more than that of the same period in the past five years (81.6 mm).
