The 21st Shangri-La Dialogue kicked off today (31 May) in Singapore and will run until 2 June. According to the news released by Singapore's Ministry of Defence, this year's dialogue will be attended by officials and scholars from 45 countries, including 49 ministerial-level representatives and more than 40 senior defense representatives, as well as well-known experts and scholars.

It is reported that the current dialogue will hold seven plenary sessions, two ministerial round tables and six special forums. The heads of defense will also hold a number of bilateral and multilateral talks.
The Shangri-La Dialogue, officially known as the Asia Security Summit, is a multilateral forum initiated by the British Institute for Strategic Studies (IIS) and held in 2002 with the support of the Singapore government.
