On June 3, on the occasion of the 17th "6.9" International Archives Day, Xiangcheng District held a theme activity to commemorate the International Archives Day of "Building Dreams for Modernization and Striving for Lantai People", telling the story of archives in the new era with real records and rich perspectives, and comprehensively demonstrating the characteristic achievements of Xiangcheng District's construction of socialist modernization.

At the event, a series of high-quality archives were unveiled. Qi Chunlan, the seventh-generation inheritor of the century-old brand "Lao Wannian", donated the national gift work of the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee to the Xiangcheng District Archives - "Prosperous Fortune - Red Treasure Vase", which is made of intangible cultural heritage skills and ancient techniques such as engraving and enamel, and inlaid with precious jade such as Tianqing jade and red agate, which embodies the good wishes of prosperity, good luck, wealth and auspiciousness.

Qian Anxin donated the fish scale book of the Huangqiao fishery in the Qing Dynasty. Qian Anxin, who is 98 years old this year, obtained this fish scale album during his in-depth investigation in 1950, has been treasured for more than half a century, which records in detail the development of the fishery in Beizhuang during the Qing Dynasty, and provides extremely valuable first-hand archival information for the study of the fishery history and economic development of the Huangqiao area of Xiangcheng.

Zhou Wenyong donated the painting "Working on the River". Zhou Wenyong is a native of Huangqiao, Xiangcheng and a well-known painter in Suzhou, and his work vividly depicts a characteristic labor called "screw" in the process of fish farming in Huangqiao, which is very characteristic of the south of the Yangtze River.

Xu Jinxi donated the Qing Dynasty Beiqiao "Preface to the Meeting". The "Preface to the Meeting" was written in March of the first year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty (1909), and the content is mainly the resolution regulations (i.e., the meeting rules) that the participants should know at the beginning of the meeting, which has great practical significance for excavating and inheriting the history and culture of Xiangcheng.

At the scene, the "Suzhou Xiangcheng District Revolutionary Struggle Photo Exhibition" jointly organized by the Xiangcheng District Party Committee Office (Archives Bureau, Archives), the Propaganda Department of the District Party Committee, and the District Veterans Affairs Bureau was officially launched. The photo exhibition is divided into seven parts, including the main site memorial site, the early revolutionary activities, and the eastward advance of the New Fourth Army, focusing on more than 100 precious revolutionary pictures, showing the magnificent history of Xiangcheng in the years of revolutionary struggle. The exhibition will be displayed in the Xiangcheng District Archives until the end of September, and will be toured in schools, hospitals, communities, and enterprises in the future.

The exhibition site also set up a special check-in point for the hospital on the red boat, which restores the rear hospital during the "Jiang Kang" period, allowing visitors to feel as if they have traveled through time and space and felt the burning years of passion.

Wu Yun, deputy director of the Suzhou Municipal Archives Bureau, said that in recent years, Xiangcheng District has continuously consolidated the basic core of archives collection, storage and utilization, revitalized Xiangcheng archives resources, and played a unique role in inheriting local culture, strengthening beliefs, and strengthening education. It is hoped that the archives department of Xiangcheng District will continue to strengthen its confidence, work hard, take the initiative to integrate into the overall situation of the city's work, and reflect more archives responsibilities in promoting the high-quality economic and social development of Suzhou.
