The village is spread out according to the mountain, with more than 60 acres of ancient trees and more than 500 ancient trees that are hundreds of years old. Most of its traditional houses are wooden structures, mainly fir and pine, and local materials are used to form a bucket-type wooden structure. Most of the villagers are Miao people, and a large number of ethnic culture and traditional customs have been preserved.
The planning of Xinzhaiping Village is carried out on the basis of respecting the original village texture, focusing on restoration, including multiple levels. Longtang Village is located in Leishan County, southeast of Guizhou Province, with terraced tea forests shrouded in clouds and mist, and wooden buildings on stilts falling down the cliffs, where the simple Miao people have lived for generations, following the simple and natural way of life. However, Longtang, which is included in the list of traditional Chinese villages, is gradually declining due to its weak industrial base and hollowing out population. Sunac China and Youcheng Foundation of the Poverty Alleviation Office of the State Council jointly commissioned Line+ to go deep into Longtang and reshape the village.
The construction area of the project is 2,400 square meters, including 1,650 square meters of incremental building placement and 750 square meters of stock building renovation, of which the incremental part is composed of 8 single guest rooms and restaurants, cliff theaters, infinity swimming pools and other public areas, with hiking trail construction and local landscape restoration, so as to drive the life and production of the whole village and the future development of the cultural and tourism industry.

Faced with the constraints of the rural environment and the alienation of villagers from their hometowns, the project explores the way in which developers, villagers, and architects collaborate to renew rural sites on the spot. The project makes full use of the developer's mature construction methods, introduces local traditional materials and construction methods, and re-examines the current rural renewal model in connection with the regional rural revitalization strategy.
The project includes two important public space nodes in Huangcuoliao Village: the village center at the head of the village and the wetland center at the end of the village. The village center has built an open structure of 758 square meters to set up the needs of the villagers in Huangcuoliao Village, such as parking lots, toilets, commissaries, villagers' rest spaces, and agricultural counseling rooms. The wetland center covers an area of 400 square meters, and has toilets and a kiosk for tourists and villagers, and has renovated the sacrificial square used by villagers for sacrifices and gatherings, and is also used as a place for drying grain and resting when the farm is busy.

In October 2018, Gao Honglei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lushang Group, Zhao Yanfeng, Chief Strategy Officer, and Ma Chuntao, Founder of Pusu Cultural Tourism, made a special trip to Zhejiang to inspect a series of rural projects in Hangzhou, Songyang, Moganshan and other places, and visited our office and invited us to do a rural revitalization model project similar to the influence of Dongziguan in Shandong. Secretary Gao's humanistic feelings and determination, as well as Mr. Zhao's executive courage, prompted me to make up my mind to meet this challenge with them.
Facing multiple challenges: how to effectively utilize the stock of homesteads and collective construction land? How to divert traffic to poor villages, generate economic benefits, and make them sustainable? We propose a two-line parallel design strategy, one is to do acupuncture and moxibustion transformation, while keeping the boundary of the homestead unchanged, to take the spatial activation of existing buildings and the ecological restoration of the original environment as the starting point, so as to realize the rebirth of the old village, and the other is to stimulate the media effect that can be drained through the establishment of public space. The existing homestead in the site will be renovated and updated into a resort hotel, and a small amount of collective construction land will be used to create a group of public buildings with media drainage effect, taking into account the public facilities of the hotel.

The undulating farmland and high mountain forests seem to be the "fingerprints" of this rural land, and a fish pond called "Sanwan Big Pond" by local residents is embedded in the texture of this land, coupled with local village dwellings, constituting the original hometown of western Sichuan that we have been looking for for a long time in our spiritual world, but it is obviously lacking some vitality here.
The farmland that had been abandoned due to population loss was reused, and all the farmland was integrated, colored rice was planted, and the ridge lines were optimized, and a landscape of western Sichuan forest was presented. It is planned to combine the surrounding tourism resources, introduce domestic and foreign architectural masters, and create a township and pastoral complex with cultural creativity, natural tourism, education and research, rural tourism, and ecological agriculture as the core functions, so as to realize rural revitalization from point to area.
After the intervention of Shanshui Bide, the design team conducted in-depth visits and research, and determined the landscape transformation concept of "taking the regional culture of Lingnan as the starting point and improving the cultural characteristics of the ancient village as the core", avoiding large-scale demolition and large-scale construction, and reviving the style of the ancient village and enhancing the cultural atmosphere and vitality through small renovation and renewal of parts and nodes; At the same time, through the construction of cultural scenes with a sense of belonging and regional characteristics, the participation and experience of ancient village tourism will be enhanced. Zongshan Village, located in Huangzhou Town, Anyi County, Jiangxi Province, is not a rural revitalization project in the traditional sense, because it is a village with a provincial intangible cultural heritage, the ancient handmade skills of Zongshan rice noodles. The total planned scale of the project is about 230.7 acres, about 158,000 square meters. Among them, the key design area is 60,000 square meters, and the rural beautification area is about 100,000 square meters. Dafang Holland Creative Village is a Chinese rural revitalization project led by NEXT architects, which aims to create a unique Chinese art village through the integration and collision of Chinese and Dutch cultures, and at a time when urbanization is prevalent. The architects have placed several flexible spaces in the old building to provide possibilities for Chinese and Dutch artists. Founded in 1959, Huangnishan Community is a living area for pyrite workers with a history of more than 60 years, with more than 500 households and more than 1,000 people. Thirty-one houses of different styles have been built here one after another, with red walls and green tiles, surrounded by strong metasequoia and pine trees, giving the illusion of watching an old movie.
By replacing doors and windows, repairing the façade and other methods, the former old staff guest house was transformed into a public innovation commune, which is a "mass innovation" future entrepreneurship scene built in line with the new trend of integration of life and employment in the future. The commune operates in a shared office model, providing one-stop services and support for rural sages and returned youth to start their own businesses. The indoor layout is divided into public area and independent office area according to functional requirements, and the public area is equipped with coffee bar, table tennis room, yoga room and other content, and is equipped with digital intelligent equipment, unified management access control system and security monitoring system, which can be booked online for meetings or office needs.

This line connects Wuzhen Henggang Village and Beizhuang Village. Henggang Village is a characteristic art village with the theme of art + parent-child tourism, while Beizhuang Village has a superior natural ecological environment and unique intangible cultural heritage of bamboo weaving, but the village infrastructure is insufficient and the scale of cultural industry is also small.

It has rural feelings, phenomenal hot spots in the cultural and creative industry, and new coordinates of the contemporary cultural and tourism industry, giving a new vision and pattern to the construction of agriculture, culture and tourism, and exploring a road of win-win and mutual benefit for rural revitalization.

Designed by Sou Fujimoto, the Flowing Cloud Corridor of the Blue Dragon Dock is inspired by the project site, especially the clouds and fog that permeate the entire village. They are like floating rooftops, connecting nature, architecture, and views of different surrounding areas.
The accommodation area was renovated by British architect Justin from a Western perspective to the Oriental rammed earth homestay, named after the original village residents, and is divided into four buildings: "Xu Family", "Yang Family", "Lihua" and "Warehouse", with a total of 15 rooms.
The exhibition space was designed by Sou Fujimoto, and the entire space was built in the form of transparent glass and steel structure. The LED screen is spliced and rotated, which is used as a large LED screen during the meeting, and can be operated remotely to rotate the large screen after the meeting to see the natural landscape outside.

The architect's renovation of the façade is extended outward from the interior space, with only the slightest subtle changes: fenestration is made corresponding to the distribution of the capsule and the landscape, the new wood-framed glass windows are integrated with the rammed earth walls and old window panels, and the boundary between the inside and outside is a porous way of penetration.
The pavilion was designed and built by Fan Beilei, an architect of Tongji University, who is known as "China's most beautiful female architect", and consists of a courtyard and a pavilion. The designer took the whole courtyard as a whole, introducing nature and plants to make the site richer and fresher.
The "One Man's Art Museum" has Xu Beihong's work "Statue for Lu Xiaoman" on display, which is the personal auction collection of Chairman Feng Yuzhu. Only one person is allowed to enter at a time, and the museum is an immersive art space. Outside the museum is an outdoor platform that overlooks the entire village and the canyon.

The Watchtower Venice Biennale was created by Lin Junhan in an abandoned house in Zhaotong County, Yunnan Province, where the demolished wooden parts of the old house were redesigned with the help of local craftsmanship to create a watchtower to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and was installed in a public square in the village. After its completion, it was welcomed by the villagers, and the wedding ceremony of the villagers was also held here, and it became a public place for the villagers to communicate.

Tonglu Qinglongwu B&B Cluster, Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province
Tonglu Qinglongwu is located in Fuchunjiang Rural Slow Life Experience Area, Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province, due to its location in a remote mountainous area, most of the aborigines went out to work, and the village once fell into the dilemma of "having a house and no one". Since 2014, the local government has gradually built Qinglongwu into a rural resort art industry cluster by attracting high-quality projects to revitalize idle houses and stock land.
"Reluctant Green Dragon Dock": There are only 4 guest rooms, 2 of which are side by side in the courtyard, and 2 are located on the 2nd floor of the main house, which is accessed by a dedicated staircase. Considering the location in the mountains, there are floor heating, fireplaces, heating and other warm facilities are readily available. The large glass windows are designed to ensure maximum views of the outside world, making each room a "room with a view".
"Qizhu Qinglongwu": JulyBamboo is a boutique country homestay brand under Heitaru. In order to maintain the original appearance of the old house, the designer deliberately retained the quaint courtyard with yellow mud walls, but reinforced each wall with steel structure. Although the whole is simple, it gathers the wisdom and intentions of craftsmen.
"Blooming Mountains": As a village project for the protection and redevelopment of ancient villages, Blossom Hillsland consists of 7 single-family village houses, which retains the original simple architecture of the ancient villages, and integrates the spatial design concepts of minimalism, Zen and Chinese aesthetics through cutting-edge technological transformation methods, integrating traditional Chinese village architecture with the lifestyle of returning to the garden.
"Mountains and Streams": The 80-year-old house is an old rammed earth wall, and the designer uses a minimalist space aesthetic to correspond to the house itself with a strong sense of age. 4 houses, 13 rooms, most of the house names are taken from the poems in Fan Zhongyan's "Ten Uniques of Xiao Tonglu County", which are transformed as: mountain haze, cloud sky, stone spring, bamboo hidden, laughing, shocking rain, relieving face, masking, before the rain, clear pool, birdsong.
"Arabian Nights": The owner believes that a good homestay is not to be overturned and rebuilt, but to combine local life and modern comfort while retaining the original architectural and rural style. The Arabian Night Pond has been renovated with a farmhouse courtyard close to the design of nature, retaining the eaves of the rural sloping roof and the old beams in the house, supplemented by common agricultural tools, with a strong rural flavor.
"Qianlu Mountain Residence": Located in the Qinglongwu Valley on the bank of the Fuchun River in Tonglu, surrounded by mountains, facing the creek, lush forests and bamboos, it is naturally a landscape painting. Therefore, architecture, landscape and interior design no longer deliberately highlight themselves, but let the submerged house integrate into nature and the landscape.
Changqiu Tiansuji, Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province
The first homestay settlement in China where homeowners spontaneously assembled. With completely different personalities, the mountain residence in the clouds, the wilderness of great happiness, and the cloud stream reinterpret the mountain residence vacation, forming a unique homestay village.
"Yunxishang": 500 meters above sea level, 3 white houses are scattered on the top of the valley, with white walls and black tiles and floor-to-ceiling windows, which is the best place to see Changqiu Tiansuji. In terms of design, the supporting area is separated from the accommodation, and a separate tree house is built in the middle of the mountain. The treehouse is a multi-purpose hall that combines a café and bar, as well as a cinema hidden in the forest. It was rated as the 2020 Golden Suzhou of Zhejiang Province.
"Guoyun Mountain Residence": In Changqiutian, Guoyun Mountain Residence has built four "white Rubik's cubes" on the ancient terraced fields, which are composed of four detached houses with different themes: "master building, parent-child building, lover building, and girlfriend building", focusing on "private house-style vacation".
"The Great Paradise Field": The Tonglu store is a model of the mountain residence resort series of the Great Paradise brand, surrounded by five old houses to form an open and independent space, and the façade of each building is a simple black tile roof with a large area of open windows and floor-to-ceiling windows, etc., which is particularly compatible with the surrounding mountain scenery.
Daijiashan B&B Cluster, Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province
There are many tourism resources around Daijia Mountain, such as the ancient She temple on the bank of the Juxi River, the ruins of the Qianren Village, the ancient temple on the top of the Lion Mountain, the ancient road accompanied by the Guxi River and the blueberry base of 1,000 acres.
"Yunxi Daijiashan Folk Art Hotel": Daijiashan is a natural village inhabited by the She ethnic group, which has been established for more than 380 years. The hotel was designed by Zhang Lei, a professor of architecture at Nanjing University, and cleverly used the local traditional She houses as the main building for renovation and expansion. The original rammed earth, timber frame and the new brick-concrete walls, i.e. floor slabs, form a triple structural system.
"Daijiashan No. 8 / Yiyun Mountain House": It is a homestay run by the villagers themselves, designed by architect He Qi. The roof of the new part is placed longitudinally on the roof of the old building, and the "gable surface" is covered with glass to obtain the best landscape resources. In addition to retaining the adobe walls as a tribute to the original traditional architectural form of the She ethnic group, the designers also retained part of the second-story cornice to effectively protect the adobe walls from rainwater, while also respecting the construction practices of the original building.
"Secret Mountain Township": Invested and designed by designer Shen Zhangxiang, it occupies the best landscape position of Daijia Mountain, overlooking the magnificent landscape of the valley rice fields. Some of the soft furnishings are made under its original brand "Tree Ring Park". In the process of construction, in order not to damage the local ecological environment, there was no large-scale construction, and the old rammed earth houses were restored, and the local old workers who knew this technology were invited to guide.
