It has achieved a new breakthrough in the regulated power supply of Chongqing and Southwest Power Grid.
Chongqing Panlong Pumped Storage Power Station, located in Zhongfeng Town, Qijiang District, Chongqing City, is the first large-scale pumped storage power station in southwest China to start construction and put into operation. The power station is composed of the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir, the water transmission system, the underground plant and the ground switch station, and four reversible pump turbine generator sets with a single capacity of 300,000 kilowatts are installed, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts.
The construction undertaken by China Energy Gezhouba Municipal Corporation includes the installation of civil works and metal structures for underground plants, tailwater systems and lower reservoirs. Since the start of construction, the project department has strictly implemented the control of important links such as construction safety, quality and progress, and the construction of the project has been steadily promoted. In view of the unfavorable geological conditions such as argillaceous siltstone, silty mudstone and sandstone, the in-depth study of the deformation mechanism and construction method of large-scale underground cavern groups in soft rock area was carried out, and the scheme of soft rock deformation construction and support suitable for the underground plant of Panlong Power Station Project was determined, which provided valuable construction experience for the construction of pumped storage power stations in soft rock areas in China.
Chongqing Panlong Pumped Storage Power Station has a total investment of 7.118 billion yuan, with a designed annual power generation capacity of 2.004 billion kWh and an annual pumped hydropower capacity of 2.672 billion kWh. The construction of the power station started in September 2015, the main project started in 2018, and the first unit will be put into operation at the end of 2023.
After the power station is put into operation, it can save 152,300 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 398,700 tons per year, which is of great significance to ensure the safe and stable operation of the southwest power grid, promote the consumption of clean energy, promote the adjustment of energy structure, and promote the economic transformation and development of Chongqing.
