InterContinental Maldives Mamnagau Resort

The 81-room Mamnagau Resort & Spa offers beach villas, lagoon villas, overwater villas and residences, and offers all guests on the island the world-class services exclusive to Club InterContinental®. The hotel also offers a wide range of wellness facilities, bespoke experiences, and six restaurants and bars to take your stay to the next level. Stefan O. Huemer, General Manager of InterContinental Maldives, said: "The opening of the hotel marks a new era for the InterContinental brand, while further enriching the luxury and immersive experience on the island. It is a great honour to open the resort in a prime location adjacent to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The excellent location not only provides guests with a relaxing and exploratory stay, but also ensures that the beautiful ocean landscape will continue to survive and thrive in the future. ”

Intuitive design

By emphasising the island's unrivalled beauty, light and natural surroundings, InterContinental Maldives aims to create time and space for families and couples to "escape" from everyday life. Designed by Singapore-based eco-id, the hotel blends a laid-back seaside experience with unforgettable natural views. The interiors of the private villas, designed by Avalon Collective, are both modern and Maldivian, while bringing in breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean to the spacious rooms.

The Water Villas feature a large outdoor deck, while the Beach Villas are directly connected to the coast. The resort also features four private residences, including the largest four-bedroom Royal Beachfront Residence, which offers 790 square metres of luxury space for exclusive use.

Sustainable development and the protection of marine life

InterContinental Maldives has an enviable location. Located within the largest natural lagoon in the Maldives, it boasts turquoise waters, unrestrained sunsets and pristine white sand beaches. The island is located near the only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives and is also home to the famous Hanifaru Bay, one of the few snorkelling areas in the world where you can swim with whale sharks and manta rays. InterContinental Maldives is committed to protecting the marine environment and has launched two important conservation initiatives, the first of which is the establishment of a manta ray sanctuary in partnership with the Manta Trust, which aims to provide a safe habitat for manta rays living in the lagoon while providing guests with useful information to optimise their snorkeling experience.

InterContinental Maldives is also focused on reducing its environmental impact, working to reduce plastic and glass waste, and promoting the reuse of biowaste with the help of the IHG Green Engage system. The resort has also struck an agreement with Parley Maldives to reduce reliance on single-use plastics, while intercepting the sources of plastic waste to prevent it from entering the ocean or being disposed of in environmentally damaging ways. Parley Maldives recycles and reuses plastic waste from the resort, turning it into a usable product.
