The benevolent man enjoys the mountain, and the wise man enjoys the water. In May 2024, I will be able to visit the last of the five mountains, Nanyue Hengshan. The mood is naturally beautiful.

Qing Wei Yuan said in "Hengyue Yin": "Hengshan is like walking, Daishan is like sitting, Huashan is like standing, Songshan is like lying, only Nanyue is like flying." ”

Nanyue has the reputation of being unique.

Hengshan is also known as Zhonghua Shouyue, but also the holy land of Taoist Buddha, there are more than 200 temples and Taoist temples on the mountain.

I am looking forward to this trip to Hengshan

Since the RV is stationed at a homestay in the middle of the mountain, my exploration started at the Nanyue Temple at the foot of the mountain.

Nanyue Temple, founded in the Sui Dynasty, has a history of more than 1,000 years. It is the largest temple-style ancient building complex in the south of the mainland and the five mountains, and has the reputation of "the Forbidden City of the Southern Kingdom".

The big temple is distributed on a central axis, symmetrical on both sides, with a total of nine entrances, and 8 Taoism and 8 Buddhism on both sides. This is also the most magical place in Hengshan, where Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism coexist.

The incense in the temple is extremely vigorous, and there is an endless stream of people who come here every day to sightsee and burn incense.

After visiting the big temple, take the travel scenery from the visitor center and start the main route tour of Hengshan.

Jingjiao car circles up on the winding mountain road, with beautiful scenery and verdant pines and cypresses all the way.

Jingjiao car arrived at Nantianmen.

Nantianmen is the watershed of the mountains before and after Hengshan, and it is the link connecting the main peaks of Hengshan

Jingjiao arrived at Nantianmen, and then began to climb Zhurong Peak, the highest peak of Hengshan Mountain, on foot

Passing through the Patriarch's Palace, here is the Taoist palace dedicated to the true martial ancestor, next to the Shouxing Hall and the God of Wealth Temple

After the archway of Nantianmen, also known as the gate of heaven, after the archway, over the mortal world, into the fairyland above the nine heavens

The climate in May is comfortable and pleasant, with red mountains and verdant mountains and forests

Prayer is also an important part of people's climbing Heng Mountain.

Arrive at Shangfeng Temple, which is now one of the key temples of Han Buddhism in the country. Since the temple was built in the Sui Dynasty (605-618), it has a history of more than 1,300 years.

Shangfeng Temple in the Eastern Han Dynasty is a Taoist palace view, called "Guangtian Taoist view", the beginning of the Sui Dynasty is the twenty-second blessed land of Taoism. During the great cause years, Emperor Yang of Sui toured to the south here, and ordered to change the view to the temple, and gave the name "Shangfeng Temple".

Go all the way to the highest peak of Heng Mountain, Zhurong Peak

The main peak is 1300.02 meters above sea level. It is the holy place of the mainstream Quanzhen sect of Taoism

Zhurong is the god of fire worshiped by the people, and according to legend, he taught the people to use fire and nurture all things. After his death, he was buried in Hengshan and was honored as the Jade Emperor of Nanyue

There is a Zhurong Hall on the top of the peak, which means that it will always be bright

If Hengshan is a dragon, Nanyue Temple is the dragon's head, Zhurong Hall is the dragon's tail, people hold incense candles, from the dragon's head to the dragon's tail, make a vow, seek health, seek wealth, seek marriage, and sustenance of the soul

Standing on the top of Heng Mountain, watching the sea of clouds, enjoying the snow scene, and watching the scenery of the four seasons is really a joy in life.

In the distance, the peaks are stacked, and the Hengshan Mountains stand in the southern Hunan Basin, appearing to be extremely high-level

Then return to Nantianmen and take the car down the mountain to reach the Martyrs' Shrine

The Martyrs' Shrine is the largest national memorial cemetery for the martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War in Chinese mainland.

National loyalty to martyrs through the ages is the highest respect of the Chinese for heroes

The next day, we went to Huang Tingguan

This is the earliest "ancestral Qing court" in the history of Taoism in China. It was founded in 816 in the Tang Dynasty.

According to legend, the famous female Taoist Mrs. Wei cultivated here and became an immortal, so it was also called Wei Pavilion in the fifth dynasty, and Huizong of the Song Dynasty gave the name Huang Tingguan

The Taoist temple is close to the mountain and ravine, stacked stones, two into three compartments, and the pavilion is horizontally in front

The building has a lot of character

In the evening, go to Hengyang and taste three dishes and one soup with local specialties

The menu is very distinctive
