The 15th National Games is divided into competitive sports competitions and mass events, of which there are 34 major sports competitions and 401 small events, and mass events are set up with 23 major events and 166 small events.
Among them, Guangzhou undertook 136 sub-items, accounting for 34% of the total sub-items, and Shenzhen undertook 82 sub-items, accounting for 20% of the total sub-items.
Guangdong will host most of the events of the 15th National Games:
Guangzhou: rowing, canoeing (sprint, slalom), modern pentathlon, diving, water polo, shooting (rifle pistol, skeet), football (women's under 16 years), track and field (excluding marathon and race walking), break dancing, volleyball (men's under 20 group, men's under 18 group), trampoline, rock climbing, martial arts routines.
Shenzhen: Badminton, Boxing, Archery, Basketball (Futsal Women's Under 22 Years), Swimming (Swimming, Marathon Swimming), Football (Men's Under 20 Group, Men's Under 18 Group), Cycling (BMX Freestyle, BMX Racing), Rhythmic Gymnastics, Equestrian (Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing), Volleyball (Women's Under 18 Group), Track and Field (Marathon).
Zhuhai: track and field (race walking), cycling (road), tennis.
Shantou: Surfing, handball (women).
Foshan: Basketball (5-a-side women's senior group), football (women's senior group).
Meizhou: Football (Men's Under 16 Group).
Huizhou: taekwondo, skateboarding.
Shanwei: Sailing.
Dongguan: Basketball (five-a-side men's senior group), weightlifting.

Hong Kong will host competitive sports such as men's basketball under 22 category, track cycling, fencing, golf, men's handball, rugby 7s, triathlon, beach volleyball, and mass events such as bowling.
The competitive sports events that Macao will host include table tennis, women's volleyball, 3x3 basketball, men's basketball under 18 years old, and karate for mass events.
After the Paris Olympics, the General Administration of Sports of China will adjust the competition events of the 15th National Games according to the project settings of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, and the project layout will also be adjusted accordingly.
Preparations for the Paralympic Games are progressing in an orderly manner
The 12th National Games for the Disabled and the 9th Special Olympics will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from December 8 to 15, 2025.
The Paralympic Games and the 15th National Games are planned, implemented and shared in an orderly manner.
National technical experts will be invited to Guangdong to supervise the venues hosting the competition projects in the Guangdong Division, and provide guidance on the competition standards, barrier-free facilities, rehabilitation aids, grading settings and functional zoning of the venues. As of June 20, the supervision of 19 sports such as goalball, wheelchair basketball, and blind football has been completed.
The Provincial Executive Committee of the Special Olympics Paralympic Games, while insisting on promoting the scientific training and preparation of sports teams for the disabled, has also actively promoted the promotion of characteristic mass sports, and promoted the popularization and development of sports for the disabled by holding and co-organizing a series of group activities such as dryland curling, darts, chess, Go, rope skipping, dragon boat, etc., demonstrating the increasingly strong atmosphere of disability inclusion in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Repair and renovation of competition venues

Guangdong Province has clearly undertaken 78 venues for the 15th National Games, including 12 provincial venues and 66 municipal venues, and more than 90% of the existing venues are used for maintenance and transformation.
Of the 34 Paralympic venues, 21 will use the same venue as the 15th National Games. It is expected that the vast majority of the venues will be completed by the end of 2024, and all venue maintenance and construction work will be completed by the end of March 2025.
In order to strive to build a "carbon neutral" National Games, the maintenance and construction of the venue comprehensively uses building and equipment efficiency and carbon reduction measures, and actively introduces green and low-carbon technologies to achieve the harmonious coexistence of the venue and nature, and effectively reduce carbon emissions.
❖Taking the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center as an example, the sunshade horizontal eaves will be added for sun protection, solar photovoltaic panels will be installed, and green vines will be implanted to form a green corridor.
❖The climbing arena of Guangzhou University Town Sports Center will be equipped with an efficient multi-online system that meets the requirements of the latest energy-saving regulations, and will be transformed into a "zero-carbon building".
❖ In terms of green and low-carbon practices for new venues, Shenzhen Guangming International Equestrian Center has fully considered the integration of green vegetation in its design, with a green coverage rate of 10%.
❖The design of the gymnasium of South China Agricultural University takes into account the in-situ infiltration and accumulation and utilization of rainwater, and purifies the water quality for greening and irrigation around the building.
In terms of scientific and technological empowerment, we will pay close attention to emerging industries such as new energy storage, low-altitude economy, and open-source Hongmeng technology promotion in the maintenance and construction of venues, and actively promote high-tech applications. For example, the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center will comprehensively upgrade and transform the intelligent information integration of the venue to create a smart venue.
A number of venues in Shenzhen will deploy integrated demonstration application scenarios of "optical storage and supercharging, vehicle-network interaction" to carry out the application of enhanced technologies based on 5G. Through the construction of a number of demonstration venues, the latest achievements of the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be showcased.
