It was reported on June 28 that millions of Australians will shiver in the wind and rain as temperatures are expected to drop again.

The Bureau of Meteorology said that a polar cold snap will bring strong winds, snowfall and windy weather to sweep through the southeast of Australia in the coming days, causing temperatures to plummet.

This low-pressure system is moving towards south-east Australia, bringing with it widespread cold and wet weather.

The system is expected to converge with a northwesterly cloud band, bringing dark clouds and rainy weather.

South Australia will be the first to be affected by this severe weather on Friday, before moving towards Victoria and NSW into the weekend.

Many parts of the southeast will experience cold nights next week, and clear skies will cause temperatures to plummet.

Angus Hines, a meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, said NSW would start to get colder on Friday morning, but temperatures would pick up to 18 degrees Celsius in Sydney in the afternoon and 13 degrees Celsius in many parts of the south. However, the sunshine won't last long and heavy rain is expected again in Sydney on Sunday, with highs dropping to 16 degrees Celsius.

The weather system will enter Queensland on Sunday.

Hines predicts widespread rainfall in Queensland but not much impact or flooding, with rainfall gradually decreasing in the Northeast.

Some parts of the Northeast, including northern goldfields, coal mining areas and alpine areas in eastern and central Queensland, are likely to see between 40 and 80 mm of rainfall.

Showers are also expected on the Capricornia coast, the Whitsundays and low-lying coastal areas in central Queensland.

Rainfall is expected to reach 5 to 10 mm around Brisbane and in the south-east.

Although not much rain is expected in Victoria, it will fall up to 5mm in most areas, while snow is expected in areas above 1,400 metres.

In the cold winds, Melbourne's maximum temperature will be just 12 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the northern part of Tasmania will see the heaviest rainfall, with between 30 and 50 mm expected to fall.

The western part of South Australia, including Mount Gambier, Adelaide and parts of the peninsula, is expected to receive 10 to 20 millimetres of rain.

The polar cold snap will cause temperatures to drop further in Adelaide over the weekend, with temperatures reaching just 14 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days.

In WA, Wednesday's cold front brought heavy rainfall, affecting much of the state.

Hines said a low-pressure area immediately following will bring showers and thunderstorms and could cause severe thunderstorms in the Wheatbelt and Midwest with heavy rain, damaging gusts of wind or heavy hail.

Perth is also likely to see more showers and thunderstorms on Friday, but it will be sunny in the afternoon.

Hines said rainfall in WA was widespread, with many parts of the Wheatbelt and Pilbara set to see between 20 and 40 millimetres of rainfall.

Perth receives slightly less rainfall, around 10 to 20 millimetres in the urban area, while as far north as Geraldton and Carnarvon it can reach 40 millimetres.

"There can be very dangerous waves and high tides off the coast of Western Australia. ”

"It's still winter and temperatures are still cold, with temperatures still in the single digits in most parts of the country, but in some places the temperatures will be slightly warmer than the cold frost mornings of the last 10 days."
