Shimano, a leading manufacturer of bicycle parts, has announced the release of two new e-bike motors – the EP5 and E5100. According to the data, the new EP adopts a compact and thin design, which can deliver 60 Nm of torque at 250W output, which is better than the EP801/EP8 and EP600 series. Despite the slight increase in weight to 3kg, the EP5 strikes an excellent balance between performance and price.

In addition, the EP5 supports Shimano's Auto Shift function, which automatically shifts gears for bikes with hubs or gearboxes. The motor is also compatible with a wide range of brake types, including V-Brake, disc brake and foot brake. The E-Tube Project Cyclist App allows users to adjust the EP5's parameters to suit their personal riding style, including 15 assist modes, maximum torque, and assist start.

The E5100 is an upgraded version of the E5000 that delivers 250 watts of power with an increased torque of 50 Nm and a lightweight aluminium casing that reduces the weight to 2.4kg.
