A new force recalls all sales models!

According to foreign media reports, a few days ago, Fisker, a new American car-making company, issued a recall announcement, recalling all 2023 Ocean models produced as of May this year, and the recall is due to the risk that the door handles of the vehicles within the scope of the recall may be stuck, resulting in passengers unable to open the doors to get on and off the bus. It is understood that the total number of recalls is as high as 12,523 vehicles, and the recalled market is not only the United States, but also includes the Canadian and European markets, of which 8,204 vehicles were recalled in the United States domestic market, 513 vehicles were recalled in the Canadian market, and 3,806 vehicles were recalled in the European market.

According to Fisker, the issue that led to the recall was caused by a "dimensional change" in the size of the door handles, which may not be up to specification for additional friction and not produce sufficient retraction force. In some cases, exterior door handles can get stuck, preventing customers from getting in and out. After a thorough investigation, Fisker confirmed that this was a potential security breach.

According to the data, Fisker is one of the new American car-making companies, founded in California by car designer Henrik Fisker, and has served as the company's chairman and CEO since then. In October 2020, Fisker successfully listed on the NASDAQ through a reverse takeover under the ticker symbol FSR, and its stock price rose 13% to $10.14 on the day of listing. Later, Fisker just caught up with the development wave of electric vehicles in the United States, and the highest stock price rose to $31.96, and as the performance and development prospects came under pressure, the stock price fell again and again, and finally the face value of the stock price fell below the $1 mark, and it was officially delisted on the NASDAQ on March 26.

According to the financial report, during the reporting period, Fisker achieved revenue of $273 million, compared with $342,000 in the same period, an operating loss of $417 million, a loss of $530 million in the same period, a net loss of $762 million, a loss of $547 million in the same period, and a cash and cash equivalents of $325 million and restricted cash of $70.45 million as of December 31, 2023. At the time, Fisker said current resources were "insufficient" to support the company's operations over the next 12 months. Without additional financing, Fisker said it could be forced to reduce Ocean production, reduce investment, scale back operations and lay off further workforce. Now, Fisker is also at a point of life and death, due to the hopelessness of cooperation with "big automakers", Fisker finally faces the risk of bankruptcy and files for bankruptcy protection in Delaware on June 18, becoming the second electric vehicle manufacturer to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since 2023. Fisker Inc. and other U.S. subsidiaries, as well as subsidiaries outside the U.S., are excluded from the bankruptcy filing, according to Fisker's Chapter 11 announcement.

It is worth mentioning that before Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection, it had filed for a vehicle recall on several occasions. On June 5, Fisker filed a recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the recall of all 2023 Ocean models (6,864 units) due to a software issue in the MCU and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) that could cause the Ocean to unexpectedly enter fail-safe mode, resulting in a loss of drive power. Fisker has also filed a recall in the U.S. for all 2023 Ocean models (6,864 units) due to incorrect font size on the dashboard's display brake, parking, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning lights.
