Biden and Trump are once again in the same court: The election changed overnight? Trump suddenly shouted at China?

author:Military analysis

The high-profile first televised debate of candidates for the 2024 U.S. presidential election was held in Atlanta, Georgia as scheduled. This is the second time that then-President Joe Biden and former President Trump have been competing as rivals since the 2016 presidential election. The debate lasted about 90 minutes and was hosted exclusively by CNN. On a number of important issues, both candidates expressed their positions, with sharp rhetoric and attacking each other.

Biden and Trump are once again in the same court: The election changed overnight? Trump suddenly shouted at China?

When Democrat Biden and Republican Trump appeared on the stage one after another, the two did not choose to shake hands with each other. Topics ranging from economic policy, immigration issues, abortion rights, and foreign policy were the subject of heated discussions. In this fierce confrontation that lasted for 90 minutes, they fully demonstrated their unique views and strong attitudes on some sensitive issues. Biden has frequently accused Mr. Trump of being a "failure" and arguing that he is deeply morally flawed, and he has highlighted that Mr. Trump has been convicted of a felony in a criminal-related case. The words are filled with unforgettable hatred. Such fierce rhetoric and emotional expression made the whole debate appear vivid and tense.

Mr. Trump pushed back against Mr. Biden's remarks, emphasizing that he was a true and powerful leader. He believes that Biden's description of economic phenomena is too empty and abstract to solve real problems, and as a Republican, Trump has not backed down on important issues such as safeguarding national security and the war on terror. He firmly believes that true renaissance of the United States is possible only through firm implementation of the strategic direction he has set, and despite the intense confrontation and even provocative personal attacks during the debate, the two sides have shown rare agreement on certain issues. For example, on vaccination, both expressed their support for universal vaccination and called on the public to actively cooperate with the government's anti-epidemic measures. It can be seen that both candidates have their own clear principles and bottom lines in terms of political views and practical actions.

Mr. Trump's main focus is on inflation, refugees and immigration, and sharp criticism of President Biden's weak foreign policy. For example, Trump harshly rebuked the United States under Biden's leadership as insignificant in the international community as a third world country, and Trump also severely criticized Biden's improper decision in the evacuation of American troops from Afghanistan, which caused strong public controversy.

According to previous reports from major U.S. media, although Trump often makes fierce remarks in public, and even occasionally has vague speech, on the whole, Trump still performs slightly better than Biden, around the current Russia-Ukraine conflict situation, Biden and Trump were asked on the same day whether they can accept the ceasefire conditions proposed by Russian President Putin. Mr. Trump reportedly took the lead in responding to the question and pointed the finger directly at President Biden's response, in which the two presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Donald Trump, engaged in intense and in-depth discussions on many major issues related to the national economy and people's livelihood, including but not limited to inflation, abortion rights, and geopolitical tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

Each candidate elaborated on their positions on these issues and their policy advocacy, and both men are facing a huge dilemma. James Biden, in particular, is facing thorny issues such as high inflation, the influx of illegal immigrants and how to manage growing tensions between Palestine and Israel. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is so immersed in the political family that he was recently convicted of a crime in a hush money case, making him one of the first outgoing presidents in U.S. history to be convicted on criminal charges, and he is embroiled in a series of complex judicial disputes. Undoubtedly, these are weaknesses that could be exploited by the other side to lash out at them in future debates.

Eventually, as expected, we came up with the question of China. Mr. Trump was unsparing in his accusations that Mr. Biden had apparently received secret funding from China. Most people know that Trump's talk about "China" is like the classic song "Unforgettable Tonight" at the Spring Festival Gala. It is only when this melody echoes in your ears that you can truly feel that it is Trump's unique tone. In the course of this heated exchange, Biden has made a series of elusive statements on several occasions, and Trump has responded frankly without thinking that he can understand what the other side is saying, and even thinks that Biden may not have a clue what he is saying. On the other hand, on Trump's side, I saw that his thinking was clearly refuting and reproaching, so that Biden fell into an embarrassing situation of being caught off guard for a while.

At a critical moment in the televised debate between Biden and Trump, Deputy Secretary of State Campbell, a senior U.S. government official, made a surprise call to China to focus on three major issues: the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea, and Sino-Russian friendship and cooperation. In doing so, the US has made three clear demands on China: first, to urge China to immediately stop its destructive actions against peace and stability in the South China Sea; Second, he stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and called on China to abide by international law and universally recognized norms. In essence, the United States intends to prevent all normal bilateral exchanges and economic and commercial activities between China and Russia, so as to achieve the goal of essentially isolating Sino-Russian relations. Such an approach will undoubtedly lead to a failure to achieve satisfactory results for both China and the United States.

Republicans are clearly unhappy with President Biden's speech, but this year's voices have subsided compared to the year's sharp criticism. Biden took the opportunity to present to the population the national policies he advocated, in the hope of gaining more supporters. However, it should not be overlooked that over the past year, many members of the executive branch have publicly accused him of his rhetoric and disappointing performance, and urged him to seek a successor within the Democratic Party. It's worth noting that Biden's important speech was accompanied by President Trump's real-time attention, staring at the screen and letting out angry invectives. Although the political dispute between the two men has attracted widespread attention, for now, it seems that the two sides may avoid direct conflict.
