Bauhinia forever,

Under love, it grows strongly;

Bauhinia in my heart,

Blossom with love, the same home.

On the occasion of celebrating the 27th anniversary of the return of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Nanjing Iveco commemorates this historic moment with this vibrant land. July 1 is not only a review of the past years, but also an expectation for future development. As a pioneer in China's light passenger car industry, Nanjing Iveco's close ties with Hong Kong began in 1997, when Hong Kong returned to the embrace of the motherland, the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army officially took over Hong Kong's defense, and 30 Nanjing Iveco light buses loaded with more than 500 officers and soldiers were stationed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which opened a deep relationship.

Challenges and Glory: Iveco walks with Hong Kong

In March 1997, Nanjing Iveco received an order from the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army, and there were only two months left to complete this task. At that time, Nanjing Iveco was established just over a year ago, and this blockbuster order was highly valued by the whole factory, and a leading group headed by the general manager was immediately established, which was composed of the backbone of all departments such as development, manufacturing, quality, and after-sales.

In the face of such an urgent order and severe transportation test, Nanjing Iveco has shown extraordinary team spirit and professional ability. From receiving the order to delivering the vehicles, in just two months, Nanjing Iveco completed the task of producing 30 light buses for the Hong Kong garrison on time.

On July 1, 1997, CCTV broadcast the whole process of the handover ceremony of Hong Kong's return to China and Britain, and Nanjing Iveco also organized all employees to watch it. When the clock struck zero o'clock and the Chinese commander gave an order, the television showed a picture of white Iveco passenger cars "lining up" to pass through the border and enter Hong Kong after 30 vehicles, carrying a total of 510 officers and men of the Hong Kong Garrison. Looking at this exciting scene, the Iveco factory in Nanjing resounded with long-lasting cheers.

Innovation and service: IVECO's commitment

In the early days, Iveco would regularly send a small detachment to the base of the Hong Kong Garrison to overhaul the Iveco in service and train officers and men in vehicle repair and maintenance. At the end of 2005, Iveco provided the second generation of light buses to the Hong Kong Garrison. The new model not only has an improved exterior design, but also the emission standard has reached the Euro III., which was rare in China at that time.

In the following years, Iveco also successively donated postal vehicles, rescue vehicles, and pure electric command vehicles to the Hong Kong Garrison. Among them, the donation of postal vehicles has greatly solved the problem of communication between officers and soldiers and their families, and since then, as long as the officers and soldiers see Iveco's mail truck driving into the barracks, they will inform each other that "Iveco is coming"!

Up to now, the Hong Kong Garrison has nearly 100 Iveco military vehicles on "active duty." At the same time, Nanjing Iveco has also become the only enterprise to sign a civil-military co-construction agreement with the Hong Kong Garrison. Over the past 20 years, Iveco has repeatedly organized model workers and advanced producers to study in the barracks, and the Hong Kong Garrison has also organized outstanding officers and soldiers to visit Iveco factories on many occasions.

Looking forward to the future, Nanjing Iveco will continue to uphold the spirit of innovation, constantly explore and open up new market areas, and launch more new products in line with the trend of the times to meet the diverse needs of users.

On this special day, let us wish the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region prosperity, and look forward to Nanjing Iveco will continue to contribute more to the development of society with its excellent products and high-quality services in the future!
