A good painting | Naïve and clumsy: an appreciation of Camille Bombouis's work

Camille Bombois is a French painter known for his dappled suburban streets, lively circus scenes, and idyllic scenes. Bombois painted in a style similar to that of Henri Rousseau, a self-taught-taught, mature work with rich blacks and greens, accented by vivid reds and blues. Camille Bombois was not very keen on art theory, but he adhered to one principle: the best art comes from a close observation of life. Today, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Raleigh Museum of Art in North Carolina and the Musée Mayor in Paris all house works by Bombouis.

Camille Bombbois, Henri Rousseau, Serafin Louis, André Bauchamp and many other artists are called "naïve", and their works are not too rigid to the formal quality of painting techniques, but more concerned with the expression of artists' inner emotions and infinite longing for life. All kinds of rich visual elements make the picture full of childlike fun, attract attention and impact the audience's heart, so that every viewer can recall their own life from the picture.
