In the northeast of Hanseong, along the greenery of National Highway 108, there is an antique village - Guozhuang Village. It is not only a representative of traditional Chinese villages, but also a witness to a piece of history. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the ancestors built a solid wall to avoid the war, and the years passed, although the wall has been mottled, but the tenacity and wisdom are still alive and well in this land.
Guozhuang Village, a village without the surname Guo, is named after the story of the famous Tang Dynasty general Guo Ziyi, carrying a heavy historical heritage. The walls of more than 300 years ago, although only the brick ruins of the north of the village remain, they still silently tell the glory of the past. In 2022, Guozhuang Village ushered in a new chapter. Relying on the demonstration project of centralized and contiguous protection and utilization of traditional villages in Xizhuang Town, the sewage pipe network of the ancient village lanes has been relaid, and the pavement stone has been restored to its original state. While improving the infrastructure, all kinds of buildings in the ancient village have been properly protected. The stone paving of the cultural square, the construction of the stage, the establishment of the shadow wall, as well as the hardening of the ring road and the construction of the antique fence have all given this ancient village a new vitality.
The protection and development of Guozhuang Village is a poetic hymn. It is not only a respect for history, but also an expectation for the future. Here, we see the harmonious symbiosis of tradition and modernity, the perfect fusion of ancient charm and fresh style. Under the concept of "conspiracy, co-construction, co-management, co-evaluation and sharing", the villagers jointly participated in the protection and development of the village, improved the living environment, enhanced the sense of happiness, and also stimulated the pride and protection awareness of traditional culture.
