Goldwind (002202. SZ) won the National Science and Technology Progress Award again.

Recently, the 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Award Conference was held in Beijing, and Goldwind's "Complete Set of Technology and Equipment and Industrialization Project for the Safe and Efficient Development of Offshore Wind Power" won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

The Yangtze River Business Daily reporter combed and found that this is the fourth time that Goldwind has won the National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2002, 2016 and 2020, the company has won three awards.

The frequent wins of the National Science and Technology Progress Award reflect Goldwind's exploration achievements in science and technology. Goldwind adheres to independent research and development, with more than 3,000 R&D personnel, and in recent years, the annual R&D investment has exceeded 2 billion yuan.

According to the disclosure, Goldwind's business covers six continents around the world. In 2023, the company's wind power market ranked first in the world.

Relying on R&D to become an industry leader

In terms of scientific and technological innovation breakthroughs, Goldwind continues to move forward, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award is an example of this.

At the 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Award Conference, Goldwind's "Complete Technology and Equipment and Industrialization Project for the Safe and Efficient Development of Offshore Wind Power" won the first prize.

The offshore wind power industry chain is a high-end technological innovation cluster, which can lead and radiate the development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry, and form a large-scale industrial cluster through the combination of industrial support. Also participating in the research and development of the above award-winning projects are Three Gorges Energy, Huadian Heavy Industry, Dongfang Electric, China Communications Construction, China Power Construction, Mingyang Intelligent and many other companies.

This is Goldwind's fourth National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In 2002, Goldwind's "Development of 600 kW Localized Wind Turbines" won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 14 years later, Goldwind, Xinjiang University and State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company jointly participated in the project "Independent Innovation and Industrialization of Key Control Technology for Wind Turbines" won the second prize of the 2016 National Science and Technology Progress Award. At that time, the evaluation of relevant parties was that the award-winning project broke through the core key control technologies that restrict large-scale wind turbines in the mainland, including independent pitch control technology and storm control technology, solved the problem of being controlled by people and the environment, and promoted the transformation of the mainland from a large wind power country to a wind power power. In particular, the independent pitch control technology, the whole machine load control technology and the "wind peak control algorithm" are of great significance for improving the independent innovation ability of the mainland wind power industry, enhancing the core competitiveness, and filling the technical gap at home and abroad.

In 2020, Goldwind, Yunda Wind Power, Hefei University of Technology, and North China Electric Power University won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for the project "Key Technology and Large-scale Application of Grid-Source-Friendly Wind Turbines".

Goldwind attaches great importance to R&D, and the company has eight R&D centers at home and abroad, with more than 3,000 R&D technicians. As of the end of 2023, the company has 5,980 domestic patent applications, including 366 invention patent applications, accounting for 60%; There are 4,301 authorized patents in China, including 2,021 invention patents, accounting for 47%, ranking first in the industry. The company has 1163 overseas patent applications and 593 overseas authorized patents. The company has been selected as one of the "Top 50 Most Innovative Enterprises in the World" for many times.

Goldwind's R&D investment is on the rise. Since 2015, the company's annual R&D investment has exceeded 1 billion yuan, and since 2020, the annual R&D investment has been around 2.2 billion yuan.

The cumulative profit exceeded 33 billion

Goldwind's technologically advanced products have strong market competitiveness.

With its rich experience in R&D, manufacturing and construction of wind turbines, Goldwind not only provides customers with high-quality wind turbine products, but also develops overall solutions including wind power services and wind farm investment and development, which can meet the needs of customers in multiple links of the wind power industry value chain. According to the company, its wind turbines can be applied to different operating environments such as high temperature, low temperature, high altitude, low wind speed, and offshore.

In terms of market, Goldwind is one of the first domestic wind power companies to go abroad, and the company has actively promoted the internationalization strategy for many years, and has successfully explored the markets of North America, Oceania, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Up to now, the company has spread its business to 38 countries on six continents, and has installed more than 1GW in North America, Oceania, Asia (excluding China) and South America.

In terms of product exports, Goldwind said that the wind turbines sold overseas accounted for nearly 50% of China's total wind turbine exports.

From the perspective of operating income composition, in 2022, the company's sales revenue in the international market will be about 4.287 billion yuan, accounting for 8.23% of the company's operating income. In 2023, the company's revenue from sales to the international market will increase to 7.841 billion yuan, accounting for 15.54% of the company's operating income.

Goldwind's profitability is strong. Since 2014, the company's annual net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company (hereinafter referred to as "net profit") has exceeded 1 billion yuan, and the highest net profit in 2021 is 3.457 billion yuan.

Since last year, the photovoltaic market has begun to adjust, the market demand for wind turbines has decreased, and after the rush to install in previous years, the market demand has fallen normally, and Goldwind's operating performance is bound to be affected to a certain extent. In 2022 and 2023, the company's operating income will be 46.437 billion yuan and 50.457 billion yuan respectively, with a year-on-year change of -8.77% and 8.66%; The net profit was 2.383 billion yuan and 1.351 billion yuan, which showed significant adjustments.

Although the market has adjusted, Goldwind's operating results have also been adjusted, but it has not affected the company's fundamentals. Wind data shows that since its listing in 2007, Goldwind has achieved a cumulative net profit of 33.389 billion yuan.

At the same time, Goldwind insists on paying cash dividends every year, and has paid a total of 11.092 billion yuan in cash dividends, with a dividend financing ratio of 185.64% and an average dividend rate of 33.22% since listing. In addition, since its listing, the company's equity financing has accumulated to 5.975 billion yuan.
