On June 30, China Media Group held the release of the "2024 ESG Action Report" at Beijing Media Center, and Yili Group, China Resources Group, China Mobile, Sinopec and others were invited to participate. At the press conference, Yili Group was once again selected into CCTV's "Pioneer 100 ESG Listed Companies in China" list, ranking first in China's food industry for a second time, and its ESG performance was at the five-star level.
The "2024 ESG Action Report" was released by China Media Group, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the State-owned Economic Research Think Tank of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the China Enterprise Reform and Development Research Association. After being selected for the first time in 2023, Yili was once again selected into the list of "Pioneer 100 of China's ESG Listed Companies" and ranked first in China's food industry, marking that Yili's outstanding performance in the field of ESG has been fully affirmed by various authoritative institutions.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Global Compact's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) concept. The concept of ESG is consistent with the new development concept of the mainland, the vision of the "dual carbon" goal and the direction of ecological civilization construction, and has increasingly become a "hard criterion" to promote enterprises to practice long-termism and promote sustainable development. More and more Chinese companies are actively integrating ESG concepts into their core strategies and business activities, and playing a role in the field of global sustainable development. The "2024 ESG Action Report" takes 6,471 Chinese listed companies in A-share and Hong Kong stocks as of April 30, 2024 as a sample space, and conducts comprehensive screening according to factors such as the influence and ESG activity of listed companies, and the 100 listed companies leading in the ESG index constitute the "Pioneer 100" enterprises.
Pan Gang, Chairman and President of Yili Group, said in his speech that Yili actively practices the ESG concept and continues to evolve. From proposing "Green Leadership" in 2007 to issuing the goal of "Overall Value Leadership" in 2021 and drafting the "Declaration of WISH2030 Beauty" in 2023, Yili has always been committed to building a social enterprise and creating greater value for stakeholders.
On May 22 this year, Yili released the first ESG Value Accounting Report of the global food industry at the "WISH2030 Beautiful Conference". According to the report, in 2023, Yili will create a positive impact value of 6.805 billion yuan for society and the environment in the process of operation, which is a greater social value created by Yili for all stakeholders in addition to creating 10.429 billion yuan of net profit attributable to shareholders attributable to the parent company.
Yili Releases the First ESG Value Accounting Report in the Global Food Industry
The dairy industry has a long industrial chain, and for Yili, the biggest challenge for practicing the ESG concept is carbon neutrality in the whole industry chain. From a grass tree, a cow to a cup of milk, Yili has deeply explored and implemented the whole chain carbon reduction plan of "carbon footprint + water footprint" through green actions throughout the life cycle, continuously reducing the "carbon content" and achieving outstanding results. At the results conference of the National Carbon Metrology Center (Inner Mongolia) Dairy Branch held on June 26, Elisena Mu organic milk powder and three factories passed the verification ISO14068 of Bureau Veritas, and were recognized by the world's first "carbon neutral" quantitative international standard, and Tianjin Yili factory obtained the "diamond" certification of zero waste landfill management system issued by SGS. Yili has built a total of 5 "zero-carbon factories", launched 5 "zero-carbon products", participated in the release of 13 low-carbon national and group standards, 41 factories have won the title of national "green factory", and jointly built the "Zero Carbon Alliance" with 88 global strategic partners, 80% of the members of the Zero Carbon Alliance have achieved low-carbon transformation, and are committed to achieving carbon neutrality of the whole industrial chain by 2050.
