The founding day of the Communist Party of China is the founding day of the Communist Party of China. After the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 23, 1921, under the brutal rule of the reactionary warlord government, it could only remain in secrecy and had no environment to carry out its activities openly. During the period of the Great Revolution, the Party was busy with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the workers' and peasants' movement, and the support of the Northern Expedition, and there was no condition to commemorate the birth of the Party. The designation of July 1 as the anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China was proposed by Comrade Mao Zedong in May 1938.

In 1941, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China designated July 1, 1921 as the founding day of the Communist Party of China. Since then, on July 1 every year, the whole party has warmly celebrated the anniversary of the party's birth.

The origin of the July 1st Party Day

The anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China is the first day of July in the Gregorian calendar every year. After the victory of the October Revolution in Russia in 1917, Marxism quickly spread to the mainland, and after the May Fourth Patriotic Movement, the revolutionary intellectuals who were the first to accept Marxism-Leninism set up communist groups in various places to propagate Marxism-Leninism and engage in the workers' movement. With the active help of the Comintern led by Lenin, in July 1921 communist cells from all over the country sent representatives to Shanghai to convene the First Congress of the Communist Party of China. Later, because it was discovered by imperialist agents, the meeting was transferred to a boat on the South Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Thirteen people attended the meeting, and 57 party members representing all walks of life across the country attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Marin, a representative of the Comintern, and Nikolsky, a representative of the Red Workers' International. The congress adopted the party's constitution, elected the general secretary, and proclaimed the founding of the Communist Party of China. Since then, a completely new type of unified working-class party has emerged in China, with communism as its purpose and Marxism-Leninism as its guide to action.

The birth of the Communist Party of China opened up a new era in China's historical development and gave a new look to the Chinese revolution. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, due to the difficult environment, it was impossible to check the exact date of the convening of the "First National Congress", so the Party Central Committee decided to convene the "First National Congress" in 1941, and indeed the first day of July 1921, that is, July 1, was the party's birthday and anniversary.

Historical development

After its founding in July 1921, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was under the brutal rule of the reactionary warlord government, and was kept in secrecy and had no environment to conduct its activities openly. During the period of the Great Revolution, the Party was busy with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the workers' and peasants' movement, and the support of the Northern Expedition, and there was no condition to commemorate the birth of the Party. During the period of the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Party was in a more difficult rural war environment or was struggling under the White Terror, and there were still no conditions to organize unified activities to commemorate the Party's birthday. It was not until 1936, on the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, that Comrade Chen Tanqiu, a deputy to the First Congress of the Communist Party, published an article entitled "Memories of the First Congress" in the seventh volume of the magazine "Comintern" published in Moscow to commemorate the birth of the Party. This is the earliest article to commemorate the birth of the Communist Party of China. The article mentions that the First Congress was opened at the end of July 1921, but there is no specific date. This commemorative article is based on the month in which the First Congress was opened, not on the specific date of the opening of the First Congress. At that time, there had not been any mass commemoration of the party's birthday.

At that time, the only founders of the party who had participated in the First National Congress in Yan'an were Mao Zedong and Dong Biwu. They recalled that the meeting was held in July, but could not remember the exact date of the meeting. Due to the lack of archival materials, it was impossible to verify it for a while, so July 1 was designated as the anniversary of the birth of the party.

The designation of July 1 as the anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China was proposed by Comrade Mao Zedong in May 1938. At that time, Mao Zedong proposed in his article "On Protracted War": "July 1 this year is the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China." This is the first time that a leading comrade of the CPC Central Committee has explicitly pointed out that 1 July is the anniversary of the party's birth.

"July 1st", as the birthday of the party, was first seen in the central documents in June 1941. At that time, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on the Fourth Anniversary of the 20th Anniversary of the Birth of the Communist Party of China". The directive said: "This year's July 1 marks the 20 th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and July 7 is the fourth anniversary of China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This is the first document made in the name of the CPC Central Committee to commemorate 1 July as the party's birthday.

The spirit of the July 1st Party Day

"If a person has no spirit, he will not stand, and if the country has no spirit, he will not be strong." The spirit is the soul of a nation, a country, and a political party for its long-term survival. More than 100 years ago, the pioneers of the Communist Party of China founded the Communist Party of China, forming the great founding spirit of adhering to the truth, sticking to the ideals, practicing the original aspiration, undertaking the mission, not afraid of sacrifice, heroic struggle, loyalty to the party, and living up to the people, which is the source of the spirit of the Communist Party of China.

Stick to the truth and stick to the ideal

Upholding the truth and ideals is the soul of the great spirit of party building. It is to adhere to the scientific truth of Marxism, the lofty ideal of communism and the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Since its founding, the Communist Party of China has clearly written Marxism and communism on the party's banner. The Communist Party of China (CPC) takes Marxism as the foundation of the party, the realization of communism as the highest ideal, and the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly. This is the root and essence of the Chinese Communists.

Practice the original intention and take on the mission

Practicing the original intention and undertaking the mission is the theme of the great spirit of party building. It is to keep in mind the original mission, seek happiness for the Chinese people, and seek rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Over the past 100 years, all the struggles, all sacrifices and all creations that the Communist Party of China has united and led the Chinese people have boiled down to one theme: realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. ”

Not afraid of sacrifice and heroic struggle

Not being afraid of sacrifice and fighting bravely is the background color of the great spirit of party building. It is to put personal life and death aside, not afraid of hardships and dangers, dare to shed blood, and have the courage to revolution.

Be loyal to the party and live up to the people

Being loyal to the party and living up to the people is the character of the great spirit of party building. It is the primary political character and distinctive realm feelings of the Chinese Communists, that is, to love the party in the party, to be in the party for the party, to follow the party with firm faith, to care for the people, to love the people, to stand together through thick and thin, and to share life and death. From the very beginning, the Communist Party of China has regarded serving the people wholeheartedly as its fundamental purpose. Many revolutionary pioneers have always been loyal to the party, shared worries for the party, fulfilled their duties for the party, struggled for the people, contributed to the people, and brought benefits to the people, thus embodying the political nature of communists.
