Chinese Herald News From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 29, the free legal consultation meeting for overseas Chinese in Japan, sponsored by the Chinese Lawyers Association in Japan and the Japan-China Lawyers Exchange Association, was successfully held at TKP Ikebukuro in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Although the weather in Tokyo was relatively hot and humid that day, there was an endless stream of overseas Chinese in Japan who came to consult with each other, and many Chinese even said that they had participated in the legal consultation meetings held in the past many times.

Chairman Tian Xiaozheng mentioned that according to the latest data, the number of Chinese in Japan has reached 890,000, and they will encounter legal problems in all aspects of working, living and investing in Japan. The Free Legal Consultation Association for Overseas Chinese in Japan provides a platform to resolve these legal issues. The Articles of Association of Chinese Lawyers in Japan stipulate that one of the main activities of the Federation is to hold free legal consultation meetings for overseas Chinese in Japan, through which the Federation can not only fulfill its social responsibilities, strengthen cooperation with the Japan-China Lawyers Exchange Association, but also provide support for the Chinese Embassy in Japan to safeguard the legal rights and interests of overseas Chinese in Japan.

Nineteen Japanese lawyers, administrative scriveners, and tax accountants gave full play to their expertise and answered various questions from about 50 overseas Chinese in Japan in 120 minutes. 34 Chinese lawyers in Japan provided reception, venue guidance and translation services for the consultations, ensuring the orderly progress of the consultation sessions. The consultation on the day covered legal issues closely related to the daily life of overseas Chinese in Japan, such as civil and commercial disputes, labor disputes, marriage and inheritance, taxation, criminal cases, and visas.
Many overseas Chinese in Japan who attended the consultation said that the free legal consultation activities jointly organized by the Chinese Lawyers Association in Japan and the Japan-China Lawyers Exchange Association for many years are undoubtedly a relief for compatriots in Japan who do not know how to deal with legal problems in their lives. The consultation meeting brought together the legal elites of China and Japan, especially the different fields that each lawyer is good at, and was also equipped with translators to eliminate language barriers.

Tian Xiaozheng, president of the Chinese Lawyers Association in Japan, said in an interview that since the resumption of the legal consultation meeting last year, it has received extensive attention from overseas Chinese in Japan, and since the consultation meeting was held for more than ten years, as a senior participant, Mr. Tian has also deeply felt the changes in the legal issues that overseas Chinese in Japan are concerned about, from the common visa consultation in the past to the legal consultation on the establishment and operation of enterprises in Japan and the sale and purchase of real estate, which also reflects the changes in the lives of overseas Chinese in Japan.
