The U.S. military refused to go down, Ukraine's casualties were too great, Zelensky didn't want to fight, and hoped to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict

Zelensky suddenly changed his tune, he didn't want to fight, and hoped to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible, what caused his attitude to reverse? What is the attitude of the United States and the West towards the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine issue?

On June 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky changed his tough posture and rarely said that Ukraine is considering formulating a "plan to end the conflict" supported by most countries in the world, and is ready to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine by the end of this year.

According to Zelensky's meaning, he obviously doesn't want to continue fighting, and hopes to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible. This is strange, you know, Zelensky once threatened that Ukraine would fight to the last man and never admit defeat. Now there is still a big distance from Zelensky's "bold words", why has his attitude suddenly changed so much now? There are two main reasons for this.

First, Ukraine has fought so far, and the casualties are too great. Kyiv previously said that the Ukrainian army had only 31,000 killed in more than 2 years of conflict, while the total size of the Ukrainian army exceeded 700,000. But with the continuous revelation of news that the casualty figures published by the Ukrainian army are fraudulent, especially according to the data released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian army lost 35,000 people in May alone, and more than 440,000 in the past two years, which is not difficult to explain why Zelensky does not want to fight. Although Zelensky said that Ukraine should formulate a "ceasefire plan" while strengthening its military strength on the battlefield, the reality is too skinny, in the face of heavy losses, and the Ukrainian army cannot recruit new troops, the Ukrainian army has no confidence to continue fighting.

Second, the attitude of the United States and the West has begun to waver, and it is completely unreliable to rely on these countries to win. The most obvious thing is that the defense ministers of Russia and the United States had a telephone conversation a few days ago, although it shows from the public press release that the two sides only discussed the situation around Ukraine and some other issues, but this time the Pentagon made it clear that the United States has no plans to send US troops to Ukraine now and in the future, which undoubtedly shows to the outside world that the US military refuses or is unlikely to end up supporting Ukraine. Other European countries, as former US President Donald Trump returns to the White House is becoming more and more likely, they are generally worried that the United States will throw this mess to Europe at that time, so they have also begun to support Zelensky to resolve the Ukraine issue by peaceful means. It is not even ruled out that some countries in the United States and the West have begun to discuss the matter of negotiations with Russia.

Based on these two reasons, Zelensky has to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible. But obviously, if the "peace plan" in Zelensky's mouth is still the one proposed in November 2022, then Russia will never accept it. Russia has called that package an "unequal treaty" because it not only demands that Russia must withdraw its troops from "the Ukrainian territories it occupies", including the four eastern regions of Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula, and support Ukraine with astronomical "war reparations", but also hand over so-called "war criminals". There is no doubt that the Russian side will categorically not accept it, not to mention that the current situation between Russia and Ukraine is very beneficial to Russia, and in the face of absolute superiority, Ukraine wants Russia to suffer this "dumb loss", which is tantamount to directly declaring that the Russian army fought this war in vain.

However, since Zelensky has made it clear that he wants to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible, this at least shows that he has the will to peacefully resolve the Ukrainian issue, as long as Russia and Ukraine can sit down and talk, it can be regarded as seeing the dawn of a ceasefire. However, Zelensky still has to recognize the reality as soon as possible, and must not lose a big one because of a small loss, after all, the longer the battle is fought, the greater the casualties on the front line and civilians, and it is the right way to reach a peace plan with Russia that is in the interests of both sides under the promotion of a third party as soon as possible.
