On July 1, the Indonesian Badminton Association and doctors from Sardjito Hospital held a press conference to explain the unfortunate death of Chinese badminton star Zhang Zhijie. According to the information revealed by the Indonesian Badminton Association at the press conference, Zhang Zhijie had no spontaneous breathing and pulse when he arrived at the hospital. At the same time, the Indonesian Badminton Association called for an end to the dissemination of video photos of Zhang Zhijie's last moments to show respect for the deceased.
At the press conference, the Indonesian Badminton Association sorted out the timeline from Zhang Zhijie's fall to death:
1. After collapsing in the venue, Zhang Zhijie was taken to the hospital
2. After arriving at the hospital, there is no pulse and no spontaneous breathing
3. This was followed by a 3-hour cardiac compression resuscitation
4.20:50 has died
5. The Chinese Badminton Association still wants to transfer to the hospital to try
6. Sent to another hospital for 1.5 hours of cardiac resuscitation
Death was pronounced at 7:23:20
It is understood that Zhang Zhijie's body is still in Sardjito Hospital, waiting for his parents and family members to arrive from China.
At the same time, the Indonesian Badminton Federation has immediately submitted a written request to the BWF to amend a rule that currently states that medical teams are not allowed to enter without the permission of the referee. The Indonesian Badminton Association hopes that the BWF can lift this restriction so that athletes can receive medical treatment as soon as possible.
At the press conference, the Indonesian Badminton Association called on all parties to respect the privacy of Zhang Zhijie and his family, and not to disseminate videos or photos of the competition.
