On June 27, Geely Automobile officially released the latest generation of self-developed and self-produced "blade" lithium iron phosphate battery - Aegis short knife battery.
Compared with the "long knife battery" in the current industry, the Aegis short knife battery has significant advantages in terms of safety performance, cycle life, fast charging capacity and low-temperature discharge.
First of all, in terms of safety, which everyone is most concerned about, the short knife battery has a high heat-resistant separator and a high-safety electrolyte, and it still does not catch fire or explode after passing the test of 8 needles and real gunshot in the test.
At the same time, the same battery pack has continuously passed six series tests: dynamic seawater corrosion immersion, plateau extreme cold, high-frequency bottom scraping, 26-ton overweight reciprocating rolling, single-pack side pillar collision, and flame burning, and the safety performance has been fully verified.
In addition, the short knife battery has a cycle life of 3,500 laps and can safely travel more than 1 million kilometers. In terms of fast charging, its fast charging speed is 1.5 times that of the long knife, and 10%-80% SOC only takes 17 minutes and 4 seconds. Even when working in a temperature environment of -30°C, the battery capacity is still above 90%.
Not only that, the energy density of the short knife battery reaches 192Wh/kg, and the volume utilization rate is increased by more than 50%, which significantly exceeds the long knife battery.
In addition, there is another feature that can be seen from the name - the short knife battery, which is really short.
It is about 40% shorter than the long knife battery, the volume utilization rate is higher, the group arrangement is more flexible, and the adaptability is more extensive, and it can be compatible with different models such as cars, commercial vehicles, SUVs, and MPVs. The upcoming Geely Galaxy E5 is the first to be equipped with an Aegis short knife battery.
