When Uma first released her work in Milan, it was inspired by a passage from the Tao Te Ching. However, when I was interviewed after the show, I found that the spread of oriental philosophy and oriental artistic conception was too abstract, and it was difficult for people who did not grow up under such a cultural tradition to understand it. ▼
Later, Uma tried to tell a story with a film, a trip, fabrics and emotions felt at the time. For example, the 2016 Spring/Summer ballet shoe season was inspired by ballet, using a lot of nude colors. All the fabrics in this collection are named after the most famous ballet dancers in the world. ▼
Wang Ju is a big fan of the Antwerp Six, and like Dries Van Noten, one of the Six Gentlemen we talked about last week, Uma is also a designer who starts with fabrics.
