The founding day of the Communist Party of China is the founding day of the Communist Party of China. After the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 23, 1921, due to the brutal rule of the reactionary warlord government, it could only be kept in secrecy and could not operate openly. During the period of the Great Revolution, the Party was busy with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the workers' and peasants' movement, and the support of the Northern Expedition, and there was no condition to commemorate the birth of the Party. The designation of July 1 as the anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China was proposed by Comrade Mao Zedong in May 1938.

The origin of the July 1st Party Day
July 1 is the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. After the victory of the October Revolution in Russia in 1917, Marxism spread rapidly to China. As a result of the May Fourth Patriotic Movement, the revolutionary intellectuals who were the first to accept Marxism-Leninism set up communist groups in various localities to propagate Marxism-Leninism and launch the workers' movement. With the active help of the Comintern led by Lenin, in July 1921, communist cells from all over the country sent representatives to Shanghai to convene the First Congress of the Communist Party of China. As the meeting was discovered by imperialist agents, it was transferred to a ship on the Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, to continue. There were 13 delegates at the meeting, representing 57 party members across the country. In addition, the meeting was attended by the Comintern delegate Marin and the Red Workers' International delegate Nikolsky. The congress adopted the party's constitution, elected the general secretary, and announced the founding of the Communist Party of China. Since then, China has given birth to a unified working-class party with communism as its goal and Marxism-Leninism as its guide to action.

The birth of the Communist Party of China opened up a new era in China's historical development and gave the Chinese revolution a new look. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, due to the difficult environment, it was impossible to verify the exact date of the convening of the "First National Congress", so in 1941 the Party Central Committee decided to make the first day of July 1921, that is, July 1, the birthday and anniversary of the Party.

Historical development
During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Chinese Communist Party was in a difficult rural war environment or struggling under the White Terror, so it was unable to organize unified events to commemorate the party's birthday. It was not until 1936, on the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, that Comrade Chen Tanqiu, a deputy to the First Congress of the Communist Party, published an article entitled "Memories of the First Congress" in the seventh volume of the magazine "Comintern" published in Moscow to commemorate the birth of the party. This is the earliest article commemorating the birth of the Communist Party of China, and the article mentions that the First National Congress was opened at the end of July 1921, but there is no specific date. This commemorative article is based on the month of the first meeting, not a specific date.
In May 1938, Mao Zedong clearly stated for the first time in "On Protracted War": "July 1 this year is the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China." This is the first time that a leading comrade of the CPC Central Committee has explicitly pointed out that 1 July is the anniversary of the party's birth.
"July 1st", as the birthday of the party, was first seen in the central documents in June 1941. At that time, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on the Fourth Anniversary of the 20th Anniversary of the Birth of the Communist Party of China". The directive pointed out: "This year's July 1 marks the 20 th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and July 7 is the fourth anniversary of China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This is the first document issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the name of commemorating July 1 as the party's birthday.
