In addition, the summer thunderstorm season has begun, and flight cancellations and delays have increased, which provides an opportunity for scammers to accurately defraud.
"Why did you cheat me out of my money when you wanted to return the money?" Fraudsters mainly use the following tactics:
1/ Obtain information and deceive trust
Fraudsters obtain the victim's booking information through illegal channels, and can accurately state the victim's name, ID number, boarding time, flight frequency and other information. Before the victim travels, he or she impersonates the airline's customer service staff through phone calls or text messages to deceive his or her trust.
2/ File a claim and set a trap
After initially gaining the victim's trust, the fraudster falsely claimed that the flight was delayed or cancelled due to aircraft failure, bad weather, etc., and the victim needed to change or refund the ticket, and offered to pay compensation to induce the victim to download a video conferencing app or designated software.
3/ Screen sharing, induce transfers
Under the pretext of "transfer to verify account security" and "transfer to ensure that the claim settlement channel is unblocked", the victim's bank card account, password, verification code and other information are obtained through screen sharing and other methods to transfer funds, or the victim is induced to transfer money by words to complete the fraud.
In addition to "ticket refund and change" scams, the majority of passengers should also be vigilant in the process of ticket purchase, refuse the trap of "ultra-low discount" tickets through various informal ticket purchase channels, and prevent "empty financial tickets" and affect travel.
