On June 29, a batch of brand-new power batteries was shipped from FAW Fodi New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and sent to FAW Hongqi Ulsan Factory. After several small batch product testing and trial installation in the early stage, this "made in Jilin" power battery was officially used to assemble Hongqi's new EH7 new energy car.
On the same day, the reporter followed the transport vehicle from the FAW Fodi storage center to the FAW Hongqi Ulsan factory, with a total distance of 8 kilometers. However, before the implementation of the FAW Fodi project, the closest power battery production base to FAW's five major automakers in Changchun was located in Shandong Province, about 1,300 kilometers away.
The three major systems of battery, motor and electronic control are known as the "heart" of electric vehicles. Previously, due to the influence of factors such as cold weather in winter, the power battery project formed a pattern of "not entering Shanhaiguan". The delivery and loading of FAW Fodi's new energy power batteries has broken the inherent bottleneck, led the investment and technology of core components of new energy vehicles to "go north", and filled a key link in the new energy vehicle industry chain in Jilin and even Northeast China.
"This battery is 'tailor-made' for the winter in the Northeast!" Jia Zengbo, director of the engineering department of FAW Fodi New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that at present, the battery is mainly used in Hongqi EH7 models, with good low temperature performance, and the battery pack is designed for charging and swapping, which can realize rapid battery replacement and energy replenishment.
The power battery sent this time adopts a new generation of lithium iron phosphate battery technology, which balances the three major difficulties of power battery safety, high endurance and long life. The maximum capacity of the battery is 445 kN, which is equivalent to the weight of a 45-ton truck; The total battery power is 75 kWh, and the fast charging time at room temperature is less than 25 minutes.
FAW Fodi new energy power battery project is committed to creating the first new energy vehicle power battery production base in Northeast China, jointly built by China FAW and BYD, with a total investment of 18 billion yuan, according to the third phase of 45 GWh capacity planning, each phase of construction of 15 GWh, the first phase has been put into operation in February this year. After the third phase of the project is fully put into operation, it can supply blade batteries for nearly 600,000 vehicles, with an estimated annual output value of 20 billion yuan. The project is located in Changchun City, less than 5 kilometers away from FAW Hongqi Prosperity Factory and Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Factory, which form an industrial layout with coaxial layout and near-point synergy, forming the "Golden Triangle" area of Jilin's new energy automobile industry chain, and has a strong role in promoting Jilin's new energy automobile industry to master key core technologies and achieve high-quality development.
