On July 1, the opening ceremony of the Disabled Writers Seminar of Lu Xun Academy of Literature was held in Beijing. Thirty-eight writers with disabilities from all over the country gathered at the Lu Academy for a two-week study period. Zhang Hongsen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association, Zhou Changkui, Secretary of the Party Group, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Weixing, Member of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, and Li Yiming, Member of the Party Group and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association, attended the opening ceremony, welcomed and congratulated the students, and took a group photo with everyone. The opening ceremony was presided over by Xu Ke, executive vice president of Lu Xun College of Literature.
In his speech, Zhang Hongsen pointed out that today we are celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The opening ceremony was held on this day of special significance, in the hope that the students would understand the difficulties and glory of struggle from the great achievements, and draw the motivation of tenacious struggle and high-spirited progress from the great spirit of party building. The cause of the disabled is an important part of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and helping the disabled is an important symbol of social civilization and progress. Cultural undertakings for persons with disabilities are an important way for persons with disabilities to participate in social life on an equal footing and realize their own values, and are the key to promoting the full integration and equal participation of persons with disabilities in social life. This is an important part of the cause of the disabled, and it is also an important responsibility of the literary cause. The China Writers Association and the China Disabled Persons' Federation jointly organized this Seminar for Disabled Writers, aiming to unite and lead the majority of writers and literary workers to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping's cultural thought and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on the cause of the disabled, and to gather confidence and inspire struggle with the unique temperature and strength of literature, so that more people can create a happy and beautiful life with passion and strength.
Zhang Hongsen emphasized that the Chinese Writers Association has always attached great importance to the cause of literature for the disabled, and in recent years, it has continuously promoted the construction of a warm and harmonious "writer's home" around the "work of being a human being", and insisted on doing more work to warm people's hearts and gather people's hearts. The holding of this seminar is of great significance to accelerate the prosperity and development of the cultural undertakings of the disabled and cultivate new literary forces. This year marks the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the Symposium on Literary and Artistic Work. It is hoped that the students will conscientiously study and comprehend Xi Jinping's cultural thought, deeply grasp the theme of the era of national rejuvenation, actively participate in the construction of a cultural power, strengthen cultural self-confidence, uphold openness and inclusiveness, adhere to integrity and innovation, and strive to compose an endless people's epic with excellent literary creation, show the magnificent atmosphere of the new era, and contribute the power of literature to the journey of promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization; Cherish the precious learning opportunities, establish lofty literary aspirations, strive to climb the peak of literature, devote yourself to learning without distractions, communicate and create frankly and enthusiastically, encourage and inspire each other, gain and grow, and go further on the road of literature; Adhere to the original intention of literature, interpret the meaning of life with self-reliance and self-improvement, bloom the chapter of life with tenacious perseverance, have the ambition to create classics, always maintain the enthusiasm and efforts of life, prove the eternal power of life with the sea of stars and words, and continue to burst out the brilliance of life on the broad stage of the new journey.
Zhou Changkui said in his speech that this seminar is not only a vivid practice of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the China Writers Association to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Xi Jinping Cultural Thought and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on the cause of the disabled, but also a special gift for the party's birthday. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core has put cultural construction in an important position in the overall work, continuously deepened the understanding of the laws of cultural construction, and put forward a series of new ideas, new views and new assertions, which have provided a fundamental basis for us to carry out cultural work and literary and artistic creation. Literary creation is of special significance to persons with disabilities, and is an important means for persons with disabilities to enrich their spiritual and cultural life, participate in and integrate into society, and is also an important way for the sustainable development of their careers. The China Disabled Persons' Federation has always attached great importance to the cultural work of persons with disabilities, and has strived to make the literary creation of persons with disabilities present a good situation of both quantity and quality, and both "plateau" and "peak". On behalf of the students, Liu Xia, Ma Xukun and Liu Xiangdong spoke at the opening ceremony, expressing their joy and gratitude for coming to study at Lu Academy, and sharing their creative experiences and insights. They said that literature is the wings that allow the mind to fly freely, and the light of literature illuminates the world of the vast number of disabled writers. This workshop is not only a valuable learning opportunity, but also a stage to chase dreams and realize self-worth. In the future, I will devote myself to learning with full enthusiasm and serious attitude, constantly surpass myself, extend to a broader and more diverse field, strive to improve my creative ability and level, focus on the changes and development of the times, explore the complexity and beauty of human nature, and launch more in-depth and warm masterpieces, so as to contribute to the prosperity and development of literature.
In recent years, the Chinese Writers Association has continued to extend its work arm and expand its work coverage, and has launched a series of targeted and effective work measures for various literary groups, including writers with disabilities. In 2019, the China Writers Association and the China Disabled Persons' Federation jointly held the Lu Xun Academy of Literature and Literature Disabled Writers' Seminar for the first time, and 37 students from 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country studied at the Lu Academy and successfully graduated. The newspaper and periodical network affiliated to the China Writers Association has launched a number of outstanding works by disabled writers in the form of special issues and albums. In this year's development of members of the Chinese Writers Association, 10 writers with disabilities have joined the Chinese Writers Association. Especially since the beginning of this year, the China Writers Association and the China Disabled Persons' Federation have reached a consensus to vigorously promote the high-quality development of literature for persons with disabilities with various forms and rich contents. The joint organization of this seminar is one of the important elements.
According to reports, the 38 students of this seminar come from all over the country, including members of the China Writers Association and provincial and municipal writers' associations, as well as network writers, contract writers, freelance writers, etc., who have achieved excellent results in literary creation, and are a group of writers with abundant literary enthusiasm and great creative potential. The Party Group of the Chinese Writers Association attaches great importance to this training, and in order to run this seminar, Lu Xun Academy of Literature and the relevant departments of the China Disabled Persons' Federation have conducted many consultations and detailed communication, and made as thoughtful arrangements as possible in terms of curriculum setting, daily life, and logistics support, and strive to bring ideological and professional lessons and inspiration to the students.
Also present at the opening ceremony were Wang Hongwei, deputy director of the Publicity and Culture Department of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhu Bing, director of the China Cultural Information Service Center for the Visually Impaired and director of the China Braille Library, and Li Donghua and Zhou Changchao, vice presidents of the Lu Xun Academy of Literature.
