At about 3 a.m. local time on July 2, a fire broke out in the Affiliated Hospital of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the Philippines.

Security guards and medical staff said they first smelled a burning smell coming from a room on the fourth floor of the building, so they suspected it was caused by a short circuit in the wires.

It is reported that the floor where the fire broke out includes the post-anesthesia monitoring treatment room, so many patients were moved to a safe area, and some patients were moved to the road outside the hospital.

At 4:17 a.m., the Philippine authorities announced that the fire had been extinguished.
