In the early morning of May 16, 2023, when Chen Yonghu led a team to carry out traffic rectification, he decisively stopped an off-road vehicle that endangered public safety, and the off-road vehicle that refused to stop was dragged on the hood for more than 700 meters. The vehicle collided and rolled over, Chen Yonghu was seriously injured, and died after all efforts failed to rescue him, at the age of 48.
In the past 27 years as a police officer, Chen Yonghu has always kept in mind the sacred duties and missions of the people's police, fought on the front line of public security traffic management for a long time, and made extraordinary achievements in ordinary posts. After Chen Yonghu's death, he was posthumously awarded the honorary titles of "National Public Security Organ Second-Class Hero Model", "Outstanding Communist Party Member of Zhejiang Province", "Good Person of Zhejiang", "Most Beautiful Zhejiang Police" and "Outstanding Communist Party Member of Shaoxing City". The Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department Committee of the Communist Party of China made a decision to carry out learning from Comrade Chen Yonghu in the public security organs of the whole province.
The hero is gone, but the spirit lives on. The relevant person in charge of the Shaoxing Municipal Public Security Bureau said that the majority of public security police auxiliary police will take martyr Chen Yonghu as an example, learn the heroic spirit, inherit the heroic cause, faithfully fulfill the mission and tasks of the new era entrusted by the party and the people, practice the original intention and mission of the people's police with practical actions, and continue to strive to promote the modernization of public security work and make new contributions.
