Last weekend, Zhejiang Jingkun Art Center (Kunqu Opera Troupe) launched the 2024 Kunqu Opera Inheritance Performance Season, "The Legend of the Jade Hairpin", "Guarding the Road and Guarding the Middle and Guarding Tokyo Kunming" - Jingkun Classic Repertoire Inheritance Report Session" and "Fenghua Wandai - Kunqu Opera Classic Excerpts Special" 3 performances were staged in turn, and the inheritance report of the two generations of Kunqu Opera inheritors "Wan" and "Dai" brought a Kunqu Opera feast to fans and friends.
On the evening of June 28, "The Story of the Jade Hairpin" was the first to be staged. The play tells the story of scholar Pan Bizheng and female Taoist priest Chen Miaochang breaking through the shackles of feudal etiquette and Taoism and Qing rules, and bravely pursuing love. A series of twists and turns such as piano picking and stealing poems are vivid and interesting, and have a comedic effect.

On June 29th, the stage was ""Guarding the Road and Guarding the Middle and Defending Tokyo Kunming" - Jingkun Classic Repertoire Inheritance Report Special Session and Xiang Weidong's Personal Art Session. Xiang Weidong is a national first-class actor and a martial artist. That night, he challenged the three classic excerpts of "Pinggui Farewell Kiln", "Sword Story: Night Run" and "Changbanpo Hidden Well", playing Xue Pinggui, Lin Chong and Zhao Yun respectively, singing and doing well.

There has always been a saying in the opera industry that "the waterway is the opera road". Kunqu Opera, Yue Opera, Huai Opera, Wu Opera, Liuxiang ...... There are many kinds of opera along the Grand Canal, and this feature is especially distinctive in the Jiangnan region. In ancient times, merchants were divergent, department stores were hot, and boats were round. The Grand Canal is a wide-flowing, open and inclusive space for cultural exchange.
According to the research of relevant scholars, "although the aesthetic taste represented by Kunqu Opera is obviously southern, especially in the Jiangnan region, its cultural identity does not belong to one time and one place, and it embodies the aesthetic pursuit and artistic creation of literati in the vast region of China." It is precisely because it is a model of literati elegance that it has a strong ability to cover and has the possibility of being widely disseminated, and in the process of dissemination, it basically maintains its inherent consistency in aesthetics. ”
In Zhejiang alone, Kunqu opera also has its own related branches. On July 1, the "Regulations on the Protection of Yongjia Kunqu Opera in Wenzhou City" was officially implemented. Wenzhou has broken the problem with legislation to help Yongjia Kunqu Opera (Yongkun) "opera" flow for a long time, and glow with new vitality in the new era.
Different from the "Kun Da Class" and "Kun Second Class" of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, the actors are distinguished by the time of admission, Zhejiang and Kun use the eight characters of "Inheritance and Prosperity and Prosperity of Wandai Changming" for the actors to rank, Mr. Zhou Chuanying of "Fifteen Runs" is the "Biography" generation, and Wang Shiyu, who won the reputation for "Zhang Jihua" in "The Story of the West Garden", is the "world" generation.
After more than 60 years, six generations of Zhejiang-Kunming people have been inherited and never stopped.
This time, Hu Huan, who plays Chen Miaochang, and Zeng Jie, who plays Pan Bizheng, are known as the "golden cp" among the actors of the "10,000" generation in Zhejiang and Kunming. Under the guidance of Wang Shiyu, their performances are delicate and moving, focusing on creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, while digging deep into the inner world of the characters, which is full of charm.
Hou Shaokui, Wang Shiyu, and Pei Yanling, the three opera masters, were full of praise after watching Xiang Weidong's performance. Wang Shiyu said that he has always "persevered in adversity", Hou Shaokui praised him as a "good actor with both virtue and art", and Pei Yanling told him to "pass on the wealth of Chinese opera".
