According to the "Rule of Law Daily", the reporter learned the details of two wire fraud cases involving international students after interviewing the Jiangsu police.
In one of the cases, a Chinese student in Australia was "brainwashed" by criminals, and the scammer said that he would be deported and pursued across the border, and then he was coerced and lured to a hut on the Australian island of Tasmania because he was anxious to get rid of the "criminal suspicion", and personally filmed the video of being "kidnapped".
Subsequently, the student sent the "kidnapping" video to his father through his social account and demanded a huge "ransom" of more than 15 million yuan!
At the same time, in another new case, the victim, Wang, received a call from a student claiming to be "Sydney, Australia, New South Wales Department of Health", saying that his identity information might have been stolen, and forwarding the phone to the fake "Shanghai Public Security Bureau".
On the phone, the other party claimed to be a police officer, falsely claimed that Wang was involved in an economic case, and provided him with false arrest documents.
Subsequently, under the deception of the other party, Wang asked his family to transfer more than 1.8 million yuan to him on the grounds that "the school asked for proof of assets", and then transferred it to the "safe account" provided by the fraudsters through online banking. Soon after, the other party lost contact, and Wang realized that he had been deceived.
International students are also recruited to transfer international parcels!
You must know that many international students abroad prefer to buy things from China and then pack them and transfer them overseas. However, scammers are also targeting this route to commit fraud!
In another case reported by the Rule of Law Daily, Mr. Wang, from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, had just sent a package to a child who had just gone to study in Australia through SF Express.
Coincidentally, only 3 days later, the young international student received a message that said: Your package delivery has been suspended due to an incorrect address.
Since he really didn't receive the package, he clicked on the link on the text message without hesitation and completed a series of personal information as requested......
It was this inadvertent act that led to the nightmare that followed!
Fraudsters who had this personal information intimidated and coerced the international student for more than two months, and instigated him to demand huge sums of money from his parents.
Fortunately, Mr. Wang was alert and realized that the child might have been defrauded, so he immediately reported the case to the domestic police. After investigation, the police found that Mr. Wang's children had indeed encountered the rampant "international parcel + telecom network fraud".
Regarding the successive cases of wire fraud, the captain of the anti-fraud detachment of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau emphasized: "After some international students break away from the original social environment and the protection of their parents, they have no concept of the way the public procuratorate and law organs handle cases, and once they are deceived, the amount of loss is often huge.
