On July 2, according to Wccftech, all the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series products are expected to use TSMC's second-generation 3nm technology, that is, the N3E process. According to supply chain sources, Apple expects its iPhone 16 series shipments to be between 90 million and 100 million units, and has raised the size of orders for A18 series chips, thanks to the attractiveness brought by upgrades such as generative AI.

It is understood that Apple's A18 series chips may be divided into two models, one is the A18 for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and the other is the A18 Pro for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which will be more powerful. Both chips will utilize TSMC's upgraded N3E process technology, which can bring better energy efficiency and performance to the chips.

According to sources, the entire iPhone 16 series will come with 8GB of RAM, which may not be enough to run generative AI functions entirely on the device. In addition, the A18 series chips may be larger, the neural engine core will be further upgraded, and the cache capacity will also be increased, but the GPU will still maintain the same 6-core configuration as the existing A17 Pro, which may limit the significant increase in graphics performance to some extent.

According to the news, Nvidia has accepted TSMC's offer of about 10% price increase for 4nm orders next year, and TSMC will also increase the price of 3nm by 5% next year.
