According to the new photos, the Behringer UB-Xa desktop (Oberheim OB-Xa) is no longer a prototype, but is in production and will soon begin to be shipped.
Behringer is celebrating the huge success of the UB-Xa multi-channel synthesizer. Yes, the UB-Xa desktop version will also be available in the future for synth enthusiasts without a keyboard. The last status report was in May 2023, when it was still a prototype.
According to the latest Facebook post, the desktop version of the Behringer UB-Xa is now in production. The photo shared by the Behringer UB-Xa desktop shows two trays of packaged synthesizers. As a result, shipments to dealers will begin soon. However, Behringer has not officially announced the "release" of this synthesizer. At that time, we will also know the final price. At that time, the first retailers will also start accepting pre-orders. So far, we still have to wait.
Behringer has been working on cloning/replicating the Oberheim OB-Xa analogue polyphonic synthesizer. This is a synthesizer that many people have been looking forward to. Since Behringer has also been affected by the current chip crisis, the project has not yet been released or listed.
But that doesn't excuse the team from stagnating. As a result, the developers have been working on a desktop version called UB-Xa D, which Behringer previewed for the first time today.
As you can see from the photos, the Behringer UB-Xa D prototype is a very compact synthesizer. The controls appear to be the same as the keyboard version. But here, they are closer to each other, and the keyboard is removed. I like this format so much that I can imagine that many musicians will be interested in it. Especially those musicians who have a small studio space or already have too many keyboards.
Interestingly, the UB-Xa D also has a fan on the back, just like the Deepmind poly synthesizer.
