传 iPhone 16 Pro 采用三星 M14 OLED 面板
Recently, it was reported that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which will be unveiled in the fall, will feature Samsung's high-performance "M14" OLED display panel for the first time.
According to Korean media ETNews, Samsung's "M" series OLED panels are built for flagship smartphones, while the "14" represents the amount of high-performance materials used in the production of these panels. The "M14" is the first of its kind in a series of panels that are said to have been developed with a focus on brightness and longevity.
According to sources, Samsung has placed an order for M14 materials and is preparing to start mass production in the second half of this year to supply Apple's iPhone 16 Pro series. It's worth mentioning that in addition to Apple, Google's Pixel 9 phones are expected to feature this high-performance display in 2024.
It was previously reported that this year's iPhone 16 Pro models will have a typical SDR brightness boost of 1200 nits, a 20% increase over the current model. However, its peak HDR brightness is likely to remain at 1600 nits, which is on par with the current iPhone 15 Pro.
There was also a rumor last year that all iPhone 16 models would feature new micro-lens OLED display technology to increase brightness and reduce power consumption, and it's unclear if this is related to the M14 panel.
Multiple sources suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will surpass the iPhone 15 Pro series in terms of display size. Among them, the iPhone 16 Pro has a screen size of 6.27 inches (about 6.3 inches), while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.85-inch display (about 6.9 inches).
In the future, AirPods may be equipped with infrared cameras
According to well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to add an infrared camera (IR module) to the new AirPods to enhance the spatial experience with the Vision Pro headset.
Mr. Guo explained Apple's plan in detail on Medium. He said that Apple intends to mass-produce the new AirPods with an integrated infrared camera module in 2026. These infrared cameras are said to be similar to the iPhone's Face ID receiver. The addition of an infrared camera to AirPods is mainly to work with Apple Vision Pro and future headsets to enhance spatial computing and audio experience.
It is reported that the IR camera module on AirPods can detect changes in environmental images, thereby enabling wider gesture recognition and improving user interaction experience. For example, when a user watches video while wearing an Apple Vision Pro and new AirPods, when they turn their head in a specific direction, the sound source from that direction is emphasized, enhancing the spatial audio and computing experience.
As for which AirPods will be the first to adopt this feature in the future, it is still unknown. However, it is speculated that the AirPods Pro are the most likely, and the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro already offers ultra-low latency lossless audio exclusive to the Vision Pro.
